SVS is dead...

Well, after the warranty expired, my amp on my PB12-Plus has died. Seems the RCA input on the amp went bad. I had disconnected the SVS to clean behind it in the corner and once I reconnected the subwoofer cable it made a incredibly load humming noise. If I pick up on the RCA cable at the input the humming goes away. I've contacted SVS and Ron said it sounds like the input went bad. Ron told me Erik would follow up on this tomorrow and hopefully I would have the new amp by Tuesday or Wednesday.

sounds like feedback or a bad cable or both.. like if you have ever accidently hooked or unhooked an rca plug from a sub while its on.. change cables first.. and see what happensMY HT RIG:

Already tried a different cable. The RCA input on the subwoofer itself actually wiggles around. Spoke with Ron and he said a replacement amplifier for the PB12-Plus is like $250, he sold me a brand new one for $150 shipped with a 3-year warranty. I'm not gonna complain, it should be here Tuesday.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

Well for $250 bucks sorry I would pull the amp out and re-solder the RCA connector input.

Well the way I see it is I just paid $150 for a brand new amp to go along with the brand new subs, meaning, I basically have a brand new SVS with a full 3-year warranty. Not only that, if I can fix the bad amp I basically have a amp to go with the old drivers so look out DIY.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

Once I get the amp completely out of the box I will better know if I feel comfortable trying to solder it. I pulled the amp out some last night and it looks as though it has some sort of plastic box around the input. I'm pretty sure you can remove the plastic box but like I said, without removing the subs first the amp would not come out all the way due to the speakers cables on the inside of the SVS being to short.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

Back up and running again, received my replacement amplifier yesterday, was installed last night. Sounds just as nice as the day it was purchased.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!
