Deal or no deal on this HT setup?
Local seller has a home theater setup for sale and I was wondering if it sounded like a good deal or not. I have not looked at it yet and he will not be able to show it until Monday when he returns from a trip. Claims it is all in excellent condition. Speakers include a pair of RT800I's, FX300I's and a CS175 center. It also has a Paradigm PDR12 subwoofer. Receiver is a small Onkyo 5.1 but not sure of the model #. It is only 50 wpc so I would not use it with these speakers anyway. His asking price for all of it is $850. I am hoping, of course, to get it for less. I have not ever heard any of these speakers so opinions would be appreciated.

I sold My Rti setup, Rti70s Csi40 Fxi30's for $600 all together. So if it's a good deal is up to you I guess. I wouldn't buy it, seems expensive to me. Do you really want that sub and receiver? Probably not, so why pay for them. The center is way too small too. I say go elsewhere.

Thanks for the advice. I have studied up on these some and agree that the price is a bit high. I do have a use for the receiver and the sub but not the center. I need to try to get him down to the $600 range. What I need to know now is some opinions on the RT800I's. How is the sound quality on these compared to others in the same price range?

It all depends on the condition of the items. I'd say, if they're in good to great shape, then it's not a bad deal(not great). I'm sure that it'll blow away most HTiBs in the same price range or higher. Go check them out in person. then decide."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

I love my RT800i's. they sound as good as the day i got them.. at one time.. many years ago.. the RT800i's and RT55i's were considered by some to be the best sounding of that line of Polk speakers. Then came the RTi70's.. which alot of people considered to not be as good sounding.
THe reason I like the RT800i's.. they are used, and you can't beat em for the price if you find a pair in good condition. For what you get.. I think they perform as good as todays new Polk speakers, but because they are used now, they are a better deal. IMHO;)PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
