    Argghh!!!

I just placed an order with Monarchy for a passive pre.... I would have been all over the Channel Islands. Beautiful piece and I'm sure it sounds dandy.

Those older Rotels give much more bang for the buck than the ratings. I know my older Rotels are two seperate power supplies and deliver quite nicely.

I don't know what this piece does differently than a normal preamp although I read the link. How would it mate with the Anthems? I realize it isn't tube.

No idea what it does into 4 ohm, but with power more than doubling bridged it's going to be substantial.

The CI Audio is a passive volume control, no power whatsoever. What is important is that your source output level (cdp for example) is higher than your amps input sensitivty. Most sources have the ability to drive an amp to near its full rated output, this lets you control that drive in the purist of fashions.

BTW, that pre-amp is a purty piece! A guy at work has one in his office and it really is a nice piece. At $200 it's a steal! If I had the cash, I'd have made it my own too!

His rig in his office is a pair of Tannoy Reveal5A's being powered by an old McIntosh amp (don't know the model) and he uses that CI Audio preamp to switch between his PC/iPod and an old Denon multi disc carousel changer. He uses his PC/iPod setup to play presentations and listen to ballgames on internet radio.

Thanks for the info there! I'm sure it will be a good improvement over the preamp section in my nad integrated amp (c352). Now I'm just aiming to get a new source and amp before I go off to become a poor college / university student (have about 10 months) :p
