LSi Series Polks...

Okay, so I've been thinking about something, when I decide to start purchasing the LSi's to replace my RTi's how exactly will this work. What I mean is, I won't be able to purchase the whole LSi series at once due to them being so darn expensive so I will have to start with buying the fronts first (either LSi15's or the 9's) then buy the center, then the rear and finally the side surrounds. My question is, will I be able to run the 4ohm 15's or 9's with the rest of the speakers being they are 8ohms off of my Outlaw 7700 until I can make the remaining purchases. Like I said, unless Polk plans to bring out a newer series of LSi's and have a huge price drop on the current LSi line, I will have to purchase the speakers one set at a time. Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't be a problem, specially for an amp like that.. if anything it will be less load on the 8 ohm driven amps for awhile..

I loved my rti's and the Rti 70's until i got the Lsi's.. I had planned to keep them, but then needed amps, a pre and so the story went.. I sold all the Rti's and am very happy with the upgrade.. I thought because of cost id never have a set either, but great deals came after 3-4 years of the rti's and all fell into place..

Id say get the lsi15's first and enjoy them and also make sure you like them, not that you won't.. but some havent totally enjoyed the sound so ya never know.. and as deals come along.. snatch em up.. I got all my lsi's from forum members, spent $2100 on full 7 lsi speakers shipping included on 2 pairs.. pickup on the others, the 15's alone sell in stores for what 1500 or better and on e-bay for around 1200 shipped..

Good luck, it's going to be a great system..

good call. hopefully i'll be taking a great job soon in Charlotte and when I relocate, i'm seriously considering selling my rti h/t and just going back to 2channel with some lsi15's, no sub. I figured in a bi-amp configuration my H/K signature 2.0 amp would be pushing over 300 watts per channel.

Hey Grimster………I got my Lsi15’s last Friday. They have around 30 hours on them and sound fantastic. Now I’m able to listen to my older recorded Cd’s. The SQ of 15’s is incredible. I like my Rti’s for HT duty, but now I’m contemplating to get the whole Lsi set for HT. One thing, if you decide to go all Lsi you need good amps to make them sing.

Get the Lsi15’s and you on your way. Good luck and rock on bro.

GATOR3000, as far as a good amp, pretty sure I have that covered, I'm currently using the Outlaw 990/7700 combo.

Grimster- The LSi's are definitely worth it. The difference from the other lines really is outstanding and the outlaw should be able to handle it.

aaharvel- hit me up with a PM when you're getting close to buying. I'm over in Cary and I'm thinking about ditching my LSi25's soon- My listening room has some major standing wave issues that I just can't solve with where I have to place the 25's, so I'm planning on a downsize + sub.

we'll do.. but i do have a concern about the 25's. I heard they're a pain in the **** to setup and the fact they you have adjust extra for the powered subs make it even more difficult. I was thinking the 15's for two reasons- It's truly plug n' play and I think (?) my Harman Kardon Sig could push them with no problems, especially in a bi-amped config. I'm really interested in hearing from those who have experience with the lsi15's when it comes to bass- either for music or for movies (no sub)

Speaking of which- how do you bi-amp speakers with a non-bridgeable separate amp? Is it as simple as using Y-connectors on the rca jacks on the back of the amplifier?

The 25's can be a bit of a pain to set up, but look at it like this- they're a pain because they've got a lot of options and you can tune them into your room. The LSi15's have one way to set them up and you gotta live it. Got a pair of 25's and want to know what 15's sound like? Set the crossover & volume to factory default, phase to zero and you're more or less there. Anyhow, I am serious about selling them and nothign beats a local sale on something that big- I'll even throw in a spare set of brand spankin' new grills (since I'd then have no use for them :))!

Oh and biamping- it's as easy as the y-cable and removing the terminal jumpers... as long as the amps are matched. Two different amps and you might have to screw around with the gain.

I did the same thing. Once I made the decision to go LSi, I sold the RTi's and then purchased the LSi's, well most of them anyway. It will give you a little extra cash and so what if you have to do without for a short period. In the end you get what you want. Good luck.

I did exactly what you did, change my 8ohm fronts to 4ohm LSi9s on a Pioneer VSX-1015TX and haven't had problems. Your receiver is better than mine so you won't have any problems.
