Any 200 WPC or larger amp will do, but it will take a larger sub to fill that size room with balanced sound.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

Yep. Put the amp on hold and get yourself a badass sub instead. The Rti12's are OK, but they're not a substitute for a dedicated sub. A bigass sub will make a much greater improvement in your HT system than an amp.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

it seems my denon at 80 watts per channel, doesnt provide adequate power
as i can turn the volume all the way up ---max and it doesnt blow me out of the house- dont get me wrong it is loud and probably not played at this level normally, however in SACD and DVD-A mode it is often played at -6 to 0 on the volume setting, which makes me think there is little to no headroom left.
so i assume at louder levels when one has to use the volume level at more than half way all the time it needs more power, is this a correct assumption?
power is an issue, and a low levels the speakers just dont shine at all.
but the sub is not as tight as i would like, but i can shake remove the porcelean figurines my girlfriend has on the shelves in the entertainment center
anyway
what sub would you recommend, i have read good things about the SVS subs, but thought i probably needed power first?Rti 12

FWIW there are a few Marantz MM-9000 on Audiogon for ~600.00. This is a 5 channel 150W amplifier. That price would leave room for a sub too if you wanted. I have not heard them or seen a professional review but if I had the money would like to try one.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH

Welcome MWB.
I would definately get the amplifier first. Look into getting an Outlaw, Parasound, Rotel, Sunfire, Earthquake, etc. You can get 3 channels or just get a 5 channel & be done with it.
I wouldn't look at anything less than 200wpc. If you don't mind used, take a look at Audiogon.
And talk to the people at SVS, they will help you get the right sub for your size room.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
I concur. If you have a $1500 budget, you can get a very good 5 channel amp for $700-900 and spend the rest to get the biggest SVS you can afford.
Also, if you sell the PSW505, you may have a couple hundred more to put towards the amp/SVS purchases.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850 -
Welcome MWB, if you take Andy's suggestion i may be interested in purchasing your 505.Van
