So last week my TV disc in the mits quits working so I go through do the trouble shooting no go...So I breaks down and makes the dreaded phone call to mits wait on hold for awhile listen to some muzac " Sir can I help you" sweet I’m in..."Oh I see your TV needs a software update we'll get that right out...

shows up today follow the instructions after 20 minutes of green blinky light (instructions say green light would blink 3-5 minutes) I get to wondering...Make the phone call back to mits (get through pretty quickly) "Ray" walks me through a few things and bam comes up with a solution " I hate to do this to you but, here is the number for a local service dealer I don't know what’s wrong with your TV the update must have glitched it"

Long story short, green light still blinks and TV won't turn on.....service guy can't come out till Monday 9/25 between 12-2...

I'm surprised he can narrow it down to a two-hour window. I'd just be glad he didn't say "I'll be there between 3 Monday and 5 Tuesday" lol.

Have you tried unplugging the TV for a spell and plugging it back it to see if that might reset it?

I just installed an HP 5880n television and had to do a firmware update. Main problem was that it took almost 30 minutes. It did seem to help some, but it was still time consuming. Hope it works out for you.

What is it with "customer DIS-service" these days?

I am so friggin tired of the tune "can we schedule your appointment over several days this week between 8-5".

BTW friggin seems to have become infectious around here this week eh? :D

Like the cable companies,, Yeah we can be there between 8am and 5 pm.. like no works and we just sit around waiting for the cable guy, and don't ya know he either gets there right at 8 or 5, so you coulda worked and still been there on time.. instead of calling in the whole day

Oh by the way, good luck with the tv. :D

And then when they do arrive they're like "oh I cant hide the cable or run it through a wall your just going to have to call someone else" or my favorite "you don't need all those cables you can get all your channels including hd and sound all through this one connection, just leave your TV on ch 3 and waalaa"...

I pre-wire houses and do retro stuff for all low voltage and that is all we ever hear from customers and half the time we're only running wire a few feet and the customers like "that was it, I have to wait another week for them to come back out for that" same goes with the qwest techs we seem to deal with. God forbid the problem might ever actually be qwest's fault....

Anybody on here actually work for a cable company or install satellite?

I have run across very few installers that actually know what there doing and will take a few minutes and do it right...
Apologies in advance if I have offended anybody...just a rant I deal with on a daily basis :)

    **UPDATE**

so here it is november 2nd and my tv is residing at the repair shop:( it only took the tech a week to look at it and get back to me from what i've been told it seems that they haven't pinpointed the exact problem so they're just replacing parts till it works. The tech is ordering another board and a hard drive since that is where the problem originally started. parts should be in next week and hopefully it won't take a week for the tech to get to it and i will get my tv back...
    i need a movie fix

Probably would've been cheaper for them to just give you a new TV?? :(

Two years ago I had the entire chassis on my 54" Sammy r 'n' rd, but that only took four days. TG for extended warranties.

totally under warranty cost to me nothing. the tv its self is great beautiful picture just happened that after a year the hard drive skipped a beat and the update flatlined it. and the techs are slow in the repair. sure will be nice to have back..
going to a freinds this weekend to watch some movies. his remodel is finished and i just have some fine tuning to do on his projector and i'm parking myself in his new theater seats for the night :)
