I have two, count 'em TWO, Dynaco PAT-4 preamps.
One is fully functional but somewhat cosmetically challenged. The face plate is fantastic but the paint on the outer case is bubbling and the back end shows a good bit of pitting.
The second PAT-4 is cosmetically fine but, IIRC, had issues which I believe are nothing more than dirty pots. I can't confirm this but that's my suspicion.
I also have the original manual/assembly instructions. For those that like to tinker, all diagrams etc are included. I obtained both units from the original owner.
Excellent sounding, basic, fully functional preamp for folks looking to dip thier toes into the 2ch realm. There's a lot worse sound for a lot more dough out there folks.
I'm thinking 85 shipped, lower 48 for both units.
I'll try and get pics up tommorow.....

If that was the same PAT from a couple years ago you had out in the living room - dirty pots broham - that one should play fine.
Awesome prices.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
*bump*
I'm also adding up for grabs:
Dynaco ST-120. 60wpc SS amp. Functionally flawless. Decent cosmetics, usual pitting etc. Original manual/assembly instructions
110 shipped
I'll do all three pieces for 175 shipped, lower 48.
Still working on the picture thing.

Oh gosh. Like that wasn't tempting enough the start with. $175 for all three?!?!
Would it be a waste for me to get these to play around and experiment with? I mean, I have no idea where they are on the totem pole, so to speak. If they're worthy of experimentation for someone who is a little further than 'dipping their foot into the two-channel realm', then I'll take all three.George Grand wrote: »

I used a PAT 4 for about 6 months with my SRS's. Nice vintage pre amp.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Uh, I goofed. The pre that I had stashed with dirty pots is NOT a PAT-4. It's a PAT-5. It's been in the closet so long, I forgot. The case is bigger and not interchangeable with the PAT-4. I had included it as a freebie but if you don't want it, I'll knock ten bucks off.
Man, I apologize for the brain ****.

Back atcha.
FWIW, I think that Dyna gear is good stuff. David Hafler was a genius and dedicated to good sound at a reasonable price.

SOPAThank God for different opinions. Imagine the world if we all wanted the same woman -
At one time, both of those units were the leaders in sales in their respective categories. The 60wpc ST-120 solid-state power amp outsold all other solid-state power amps COMBINED. The PAT-4 solid-state preamp outsold all other solid-state preamps COMBINED. The tube ST-70 outsold all other tube power amps COMBINED. I think the tube preamp did the same thing. Dynaco was incredible for that ****.
It is possible that the statement still stands today. They sold THAT many of those things. -
