Subwoofer Wiring/Position help

Ok, I have finally decided to get back into the home audio and out the car audio. In the last few days I have made 2 purchases:
Polk CS2
Velodyne DLS-R 3750
My question is what kind of cable should I use to hook the subwoofer up? I have seen hundreds of subwoofer cables and just don't know which is the right one for my subwoofer.
Also, does anyone have experience with this subwoofer? I got it for a great price, I know velodyne is a great name, but I found a few liimted reviews(all good ones).
Lastly, where is the best place to put this sub? My sofas are about 8 feet from my tv/fronts. I was considering the subwoofer behind the sofa but I am not sure. I will try and upload some pics of my setup later.
Thanks,
Mark

Congrats on the new gear. First off..any subwoofer RCA cable will do. There is mucho debate on cable differences, quality etc. but you do not need to spend a fortune. Bettercables, Cobalt Cable even (EGAD! ) Monster are fine. ( I use Cobalt).
Experiment with positioning in the room. Place the sub where you will be sitting and 'crawl around' to listen for the spot where the bass 'sounds' best to you. That is where you should put the sub. If you have placement restrictions, consider getting a sub equalizer such as the Velodyne SMS-1. I am limited to placing my subs in the front corners-ish so I need an EQ to tame the BOOM. Placing a sub in the corner will usually give you the most bang for the buck- but sometimes too much.

Any reccomendations on speaker wire? I originally hooked up the entire system with just the cheapest basic monster cable speaker wire.....but I am sure this was not a wise decision.
