Media Player 10 problem.....

Recently I've been having a problem where a video will play at normal speed, but instead of a 15 minute clip playing 15 minutes, it'll finish in 2-3 minutes. The time in the upper right corner indicates the shorter time, but if I jump the scrolling bar towards the end of the clip, it will jump to what would normally be the 13 or 14th minute, but still show the time as under 3 minutes.

I've uninstalled all updates to 10 to try and get it updated, but I can't get 10 uninstalled completely to do a re-install. I had 11 for a week or so, but it kept crashing Firefox because the embedded player wasn't working right in it, so I dropped back down to 10.

Anyone ever had this problem? I've searched all over the place and the only mention I see of anything like this on any searches is music playing hyperspeed like the chipmunks. My issue is only occuring with video..........any ideas?

I searched the microsoft knowledge base for you and i cant find anything on your problem. I myself have not seen or heard of anyone else having that problem. Is this a downloaded video off of the web or is it from a cd/dvd? Also is this happening with every video clip or just certian ones?

I had looked there too......

It's the occasional file that it's just doing it to (downloaded, not off a cd/dvd). I've tried to copy the file to another location and see if it reacted any differently and it didn't. I also played the file in nero and it works fine, but I don't like nero's player actually.......that scroll button is a small space wtih a large button, so it makes it a bit of a PITA......

hmmmm got me on that one. I will keep looking for you and if i find anything ill let you know. Hopefully we can find an answer.
