Home brew amp stands?

I'm thinking about building something cheap for my amplifiers to sit on. I have no place to set them now but don't want to buy anything. Total cost must be very low and they should look good in some way and hopefully be a plus to the sound. Also, I only have maybe an hour at the most to spend on them. I just need something to get them off the carpet for safety reasons. Any ideas?

The TNT-Audio sandbox would be a good start. I built one for my transport, but I didn't want to have to mess with sand getting out so I just built a closed in MDF box and filled it with sand. weighs 30 pounds or so. I used bolts and accorn nuts as "spikes".Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15

Max,
I know you said DIY but check this stand out. Going to order on myself. Think there is a $5 off coupon for new customers. Comes in silver too.
