CS1000p/Rear Projection Stand

All,
I keep looking around the forums but haven't seen a good solution: has anyone found a good TV stand for a 50-60" rear projection TV that will hold the CS1000p center? Other than super-wide stands that would leave the speaker way too close to the floor, I can't find a good stand that will accomodate the height of the CS1000p.
I really like my new SXRD TV, but can't give up the CS1000p.
Thanks for any advice.

Just buy a "super-wide stand" and angle the speaker upwards using a couple of door stops. Works great.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I had this dilemma for awhile...
I have the cs-350, the top of the line centers from the Polk LS days of the mid nineties, I'd say one of the best polk centers ever. I got my sxrd and found no stands at around $1000 w/ a center channel shelf, so I opted for the Sanus Java Lowboy mainly because it looked so darn good. Regretfully I started using a set of the Rm3000 (2 sats & passive sub) as a center, this worked very good, I was able to put the 2 sats in the shelf and the sub behind the stand, it didn't sound bad.
Last week I had an epiphany after owning the stand for 8 months. It came with 2 poles that attached to the back of the stand so you can mount a plasma. I had a vision of mounting the poles with a bracket and shelf!
Went to Home Depot spent $26 and got my CC shelf. It worked out better than I thought you can adjust the height of the shelf, so it looked real nice an inch above my tv and slightly recesses behind the tv screen, actually it looks amazing. I got my 350 back in the mix and it never sounded so good with the excellent placement, somehow it sounds better on a shelf than it did sitting on top of my old CRT RPTV Mitsu.
Heres a pic of the stand;

It must be invisible because I don't see any center channel speaker....Where's the shot of the shelf you are talking about?Lsi9 wrote:I had this dilemma for awhile...

Yeah, I had a feeling it would come down to buying a super-wide stand. I was hoping that there would be a magical (and smaller) solution, because I'm trying to squeeze this TV, the RT3000ps, and a whole bunch of other stuff into my townhouse.
(By the way, my neighbors love me.)
If anybody else has had success with the CS1000ps and a narrower stand, please let me know!

Yeah, it's a monster TV. You have the same SXRD that I do, with the weird speakers on the side. I like your idea (although I would love to spend less $$$ for a stand)! Nothing in life comes cheap, I guess...
Thanks for the input, Lsi9! -
I have a perfect stand for that TV (my RPTV is 50"). The CS1000 fits underneath it and I have a seperate rack for my AV equip. I'll try to find the company name and put it up here.
I know your dilemma though... I spent a LOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG time looking for a cost effective TV stand that would work. Even considered making my own.Brian Knauss

BDI. I found my stand on clearance. Found similar pricing on the web.Brian Knauss

Will these work?
I own one similar to the one on the left. Both will fit at least a 60" TV. You can get either one at Best Buy for about $200.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I think that stand would work, being that I have the same tv, although price here is an issue it looks like a roughly $500 stand?
the reason I like my stand so much also is because all my components fit in on the booton, no need for a separate rack, I will do the system showcase soon.

Lsi9 and Early B, thank you both. I looked up the Init stands, and can't see whether they'll fit the speaker's ridiculous 8"+ height. Looks like a trip to Best Buy is in store.
Honestly, the missus is of the opinion that if I spend a few grand on equipment, it's only appropriate to spend the same amount on living room furniture. I just don't get it. But it may be the only option.
Bknauss, I've looked at the BDI stuff, and they are local. (Chantilly, VA.) The Vector? The Icon? They say that the shelves are adjustable, but the setup instructions aren't clear that they actually could handle the height of the speaker. I've got to find a showroom!
Thanks, everybody, for your input. I appreciate all of it. -

My stand has three shelfs including two glass shelves, but I only installed the middle shelf. This gives me two shelves and a clearance of about 16 inches for the top shelf where my center channel speaker resides.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Terp - look for a Myer Emco and they carry that stuff.
I have the Axis 8027.Brian Knauss

So yesterday I wandered into a Best Buy and a Tweeter. The Best Buy had an Init stand that was huge (60+" wide), could barely handle the CS1000p, and that would have held a bunch of components well. The only problem was that the middle shelf was recessed, and so the center would have ultimately had to sit a few inches deeper than the screen....
Over at Tweeter, I finally got a chance to see BDI's Vector, which fits the bill perfectly. Bknauss, it is the xx27 series, so probably has pretty similar specs to your Axis. The adjustable shelf can probably handle a 12" tall center (if one existed). And, at $600, it's right in the middle of the prices for all this stuff. (I know that Myer-Emco in the DC area also carries BDI, and, after standing around at Tweeter for 20 minutes waiting for some assistance, to no avail, I suspect that Myer-Emco will get my business!)
So, I think that's the answer. Thanks, everyone, for your help! -
The BDI Vector barely -- I mean, within 1/8 inch -- fits it. But it looks gorgeous!
I figured I should post this follow-up, if only for those who should come looking in the future... -
This is my CS1000p center under my Samsung.
If the link does not work check my showcase link in my sig.
The stand was purchased at Circuit City for like $90.00 IIRC.Skynut
