dillemma with mounting my cs400i during a remodel
we tore out the wall with the existing TV cubby, and are building a new wall around a new/improved fireplace with room for a flat panel TV.
the problem I have is where/how to mount the cs400i. When we had a tube TV, it sat on top, but this option is going away since it is 14 inches deep, and the flat panel will be about 7 inches off the wall.
Can it be flush mounted behind a wall and sound OK?
Will it sound ok above the TV about 8 feet off the ground angled down?
would it sound better under the the TV about 4.5 feet off the ground but level? ?
What if its "built-in" to the wall? (the mantle) Will this muffle the bass?
My front speakers are RTi70s so I guess another option is to find a smaller center speaker , but ** I really like ** the sound of the cs400I and think I'd be dissapointed with a smaller speaker.
What about two smaller center speakers? Do these need to be dead-on center, or could they be spaced apart slightly?
btw, I don't currently have a sub, but its on the wishlist.
thoughts?

I have tried centers above and below the tv, I notice better sound above the tv. I think your cc will sound great above and angled down, just make sure you get the right angle. I also think it will be fine inside the wall, I would put dampening material in the space that the cc doesnt take up, thus eliminating any resonant anomolies. Good luck, show us pics when alls said and done!

I'm not sure in the wall would be ideal. I know there's a bass port on the back. I'd test before commiting.

I can't make over the top work. I cut some more drywall last night and discovered a 4x12 header encroaching in the space above where the TV is going.
So I reworked the plans and I think I found a way to make it will fit under the TV on top of the mantle with a recess behind the speaker.
My wife is not happy about the speaker on the mantle but I think its the best we can do short of getting a sound bar mounted on the wall.
