hmdi-dvi adapter

I have a dvi cable from my projector to my dvd player, when I got my new projector it had hmdi, so I got a adapter to change the dvi to hdmi.My question is that I read that my Denon 2910 would have better pq with hdmi instead of using the dvi out on the Denon, anyone know if this is correct? Also should I get another adapter & use the hdmi output on the Denon or replace the dvi cable with a hdmi? thanks

if you have HDMI then on both the dvd, receiver and the projector then use it. HDMI will provide the best PQ as well as carry your digital audio.

DVI and HDMI carry the exact same video signal. Obviously it's easier to use the same thing on everything, but you're not losing any picture quality for DVI vs HDMI.

If you don't believe me, her'es a reference, and I'm sure you can find a million more.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I agree that there is no difference between HDMI and DVI picture quality wise since it's both digital. HDMI is more convenient coz it can carry audio and video on the same cable.

If you owned a good quality of HDMI/DVI cable why bother to buy an adapter, use your money to other purpose, just my .02c.

    Enjoy....

DH, as the previous replies and the linked article indicate, HDMI and DVI cables are exactly the same except for the connectors on the ends. HDMI adds audio capability, but the video quality should be the same as when the DVI is used. Unless the Denon engineers made a mistake in designing the DVI output on the 2910 which they didn't make with the HDMI output(highly unlikely)what you read is simply another example of over-active imaginations distorting reality.

Let me ask this question (apologies if asked/answered before)...

My Comcast video connection from my cable box to my TV (which supports HDMI) currently has the component connection. Now that I just had my cable box replaced (which now supports HDMI), how much better should I expect the PQ to be if I switch out my component connection with the HDMI connection? Is it really worth spending the money on such an expensive cable? My picture is pretty darn good even with the component connection.

Is it a safe assumption that since HDMI/DVI are carrying digital video signals, that HDMI is also carrying digital AUDIO and therefore the audio signal would be better served through coaxial means? (Based on a general industry and Club Polk consensus that coax sounds better or makes more sense than digital cable due to another step (D/A conversion)?)

This is obviously a moot point if the audio from HDMI/DVI is not being caried in digital format.
