I would like a small stereo tube amp for my office. Anyone got one for nothing or close to it? It would really round out my image since I have talked about tubes for the past month at work to people who don't really give a ****.

Check out some old Dynaco, or go with the Antique Sound Labs monoblocks.....10wpc, and STUNNING......

I think AMC offers a tube amp for around 3 bills online also....

    Cheers,
    Russ

You freak, asking if we have EXTRA tube gear to throw at ya....

alex7228 was selling one of his NAD on this forum, I think it was a right NAD? can you run two right NADs, I think it would work as they both feed a mono output.

    'Mono output'

Incredibly funny, yet very very dirty and wrong at the same time.

No Russ, you will help a fellow 'Russ' out first, eff Troy, he doesn't even have an extra amp to run with a new pre. Besides, I know you would hate to see a perfectly good NAD pre sitting on a Wal Mart press-board, white-trash, trailer-park yard sale, end table thingee (Troy's rack).

Let ME know about any NAD pre's you happen upon....

What model or model are you looking for? the 1020? (preamp section of the 3020 intergrated) or something from the monitor series 1300, 1600, 1700 or newer than those? price range?

    OUCH, man, that smarts.

It's a proven fact that milk crates keep amps cooler and provide great isolation. I know, because I've tested it until I was blue in the balls, I mean face.

    Cheers,

    RussA, he's looking for a 1020, 1130, 11xx, he saw me bag an 1130 for $50, I think he's looking for a steal....

3 bills for an office amp! I don't think so. I'm looking for the old POS tube amp that looks too dirty, corroded and beat up to use in a home. Extra wires coming out of the case in different locations is a plus! I'm talking about something that no normal person would be willing to plug into the wall for fear of electrocution. Mono blocks? are you insane? Oh yea, I only have two 302A's and one 502A. (For now)

I'm looking for cheap. Good suggestions Hoosier! The first one scares me though. The hammond looks interesting because I could use it for my Voce B3 emulator on my keyboard if it sucked too bad. A nice little self contained 10 to 20 watt 2 channel for $50 would be the best. I don't need high volumes of sound or even good quality but the little sony SS POS I use now has that characteristic SS distortion and it is really bugging me after listening to the tubes at home.

I have been looking at them. Right now there is a Knight "kit", unassembled, that people seem to think is worth over $500 on ebay. That tells me they must have been serious?

I have a knight amp in my parents basement that needs a tube. I should pull it out of the cobwebs clean it up a bit and find a tube.
I will post a model # and see if anyone knows much about it, I actually used it for a bit when I was in high school on a set of kg2's and it really seemed to have a well rounded sound. It took some af the harshness out of the horn tweeter on the klispch. Wonder what it would sound like on a set of 7b's, hmmmmmmm.
Might be a good amp for my garage system.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Be careful, you may hear something you don't remember. Sure would hate to see anyone else get sucked into the tube thing. Maybe you better just send it away (maybe to MD?) and never actually plug it in. I'm just trying to help a fella out :D

Maybe this will be good! I'm not sure of the output tubes but i'm sure it will be better than any of the SS options for the office.

Power ratings on tube amps and ss amps can't be compared like apples and apples can they? This Pioneer is 36 wpc, would that punch a lot harder than a 36 wpc ss amp?

I lost it! Before I went to bed last night I put on a $240 bid. I thought this was more than anyone else would bid. I was wrong. It went for over $100 more than that!!! For that much I'll go ahead and get another Jolida!

    Nascarman,
My Jolida's are 50 watts per channel. When I replaced my 300 watt X 2 Sunfire amp with it I lost very little in perceived power. Tube distortion is quite different making the 50 watts average power you use the same as the 50 watts average power you use on a SS amp. The difference are the peaks of power. The SS stuff MUST have a full power rating to handle these high peaks or it sounds crappy and blows speakers. The tube stuff rounds them off in a pleasant manor. If a SS amp were rated in such a way as to reflect this it would be rated much lower. About 1/5 with most music.
