Pounds of Lead Shot Needed?
How many pounds of lead shot do I need to buy for a pair of PE stands? The central column is 4 in. wide and 23 in. long.
Thanks.
Thanks.

It comes in 25lb. bags, start there. FYI, I put 22lbs. into each CRS+ stand.Political Correctness'.........defined

I would highly recommend that you get them filled with mercury. Just be careful it's very poisonous. I had my wife do mine and I feel great.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

When I filled my Dyn Stand4's, it required almost 6 bags of #8, with about 10lbs total remaining. The columns are about 4" in diameter and about 24" long.
I would suspect your stands might take just under three bags of #8. You may want to purchase three, fill each stand with one and determine if you need the extra. If not, you can return the extra bag on your next outing. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed and third, it is accepted as self evident. -
Lead has a specific gravity of 11.35 (i.e. a given volume of lead weighs 11.35 times as much as an equal volume of water). The weight of 1 cubic foot of water is approximately 62.3 lbs./cu. ft. Given this information, the weight of lead required would be calculated as follows:
62.3 lbs./cu. ft. x 11.35 x volume of stands in cu. ft. = lbs. of lead required -

The specific gravity of Mercury, 13.6, may be substituted in the formula above and might very well provide better dampening.
Gold, at a specific gravity of 19.3, would seem the best inert mass for this application--while achieving a higher WAF, as well as *WLEF.
