No CD in drive?

My computer no longer recognizes that theres a CD in the drive. It's not the cd hardware because I just swapped both of my new drives for brand new out of the box lite on drives. I had those drives sitting around so I put them in my comp just in case it was my old cd drives. I'm still having the same problem though, my computer doesn't recognize there's a CD in there.
What do I need to update? I have brand new drives, and the same problem. The old drives were uninstalled and everything. I guess I'll try booting in safe mode and removing the drives again. I dunno.

Might be your ribbon cable has a loose/broken wire, or the connector going to the motherboard isn't in securely.
Try a different ribbon cable and see if that works.Sal Palooza -

If not the ribbon cable, try another power cable to the cd drive. It's possible that a pin on the power cable got loosened somehow and isn't getting a solid connection.comment comment comment comment. bitchy.
