My guess, a cop pulls a 17 year old and he's asked to exit the vehicle.. (unlikely for a traffic stop) your getting yanked out or drawn down on.. cops don't mess around anymore or take chances, they don't know your harmless trey from club polk or trey the gang banger with a 9 in your lap. :D

Its like people coming out of a bar, they call it entrapment if a cop sits outside ready to watch someone drive away drunk.. I call it doing thier job, and like was mentioned, if your obeying the law you don't have to worry.. if your speeding, you wont be likely asked to leave your car.

you can't be mad that they drive unmarked cars that you the law abiding citizen can't detect.. the bad guys can't detect them either and that's how they get caught..

so relax, stop speeding.. speed kills and listen to what they tell ya if you get pulled over, like they say "it can be easy or it can be hard"

Even if a cop is in an unarked car he still is going to be wearing his gun belt and more than likely have his badge on his belt as well. He's not going to get out of the car with a Born to Lose Tshirt and sandals on.

Even if he does, all you have to do is ask to see his ID. Requesting a uniformed officer is not necessary when you can merely ask to see the officers ID just as easily. Now if he doesnt have proper ID or at least a badge then requesting a uniformed officer would be appropriate I would think.

    Speed does not kill.

    People's inability to drive kills.

I can garuntee you there are probally more car to car accidents by some idiot going 10 UNDER the speed limit, swerving in and out of the lane because hes trying to find his phone, then later on hits the brakes for 50 feet because he decides in 50 feet, without his turn signals its his time to turn.

The road i drive to work on everyday is 45, you could easilly drive 65, SAFELY on that road. Its rediculous...

The only reason you couldnt drive 55 on that road is if you absolutely suck...

So what I am hearing from a few of you is that if you are unsure about an unmarked police car or the officer who gets out of the unmarked car you should:

    a) Ask for an ID
    b) Ask for a uniformed officer

Now lets think about this logically. If the person in the car is an officer, he/she is just going to be irritated by this request because you are questioning their authority, and you will get a ticket for sure. If the person is not an officer and is a bad guy, he is going to get irritated and someone is going to get hurt. Either way, this is only a way to irritated a situation.

The best advice is what Doro stated earlier, find a comfortable place (well populated) to pull over in a reasonable amount of time. Do not be confrontational and just take your lumps if you decide to disobey the rules of the game. If you think the situation is unfair or that you were treated unfair, the place to express this is NOT to the officer at that time. Be courteous and take it to the judge on your court date.

first off what's the number of fake cop stops compared to the real deal? 1 in 10 million, I mean really... its not that he's afraid of a fake cop.. he's pissed he could get knabbed and not know it was coming becuase the cop was unmarked..

Trey you have driven for what 6 months or longer.. Ive driven for 18 years with the first 2 or 3 being my real learning years and i still learn..

so when you have atleast a couple years experience then make suggestions and comments..

I like you as a forum member and you have grown alot on the forum and with audio, BUt lately this past year or less now you have grown up and got a truck and a job.. youve gotten real smitten, you know everything about car makes and models, which ones are good and bad.. even though you have had 1 vehicle, now its about driving. and cops, you have alot to learn and if you would listen to some of the older guys around here (not even me ) with years of life experience instead of yapping like you know everything, you would learn something..

I'm not busting your chops, really.. BUt i have learned most of what i know by personal experience or watching and reading.. what do ya think i stick around here for? the warm feeling i get here  LOL

Agree Faster, but the reality is that whether the cop is in an unmarked car or not, Sid is going to get a ticket if he becomes beligerent. I was just adding in a precaution so that if you are ever worried about your safety, the steps you should take. It is not as rare as you may think. Here are a few just in the last week:

I understand and the comment wasnt to do with you or safety in the case of a fake cop.. I'm saying if you re-read treys post he is obviously mad because he almost got popped by an unmarked cop and he didn't know..

My comments still stand with him, he needs to act that way and learn from his mistake after he gets yoked from him truck ( i hope it never happens)

and as was mentioned, if its a fake cop and he asks for another cop the bad guy is gonna do what he intends anyway.. and if its a real cop well, its teh chance you have to take.

I bet you drive that truck around like a Ferrari huh? lol

Where the hell are you guys from where you get tickets for going 66 in a 55? Geeze cops around here usually give you a 15 MPH cushion, unless you're some snot nozed kid with a huge wing and a **** pipe. I've passed my fair share of cops going over the speed limit, but never excessivly over the limit.

Unmarked cars still don't bother me. And I definitely have no problem with cops hanging out outside the bar waiting for a drunk driver.

I still don't understand the argument for why unmarked cars are bad. Did I miss something?

Here cops usually give a 10 mph cushion...

I was following a cop home today, he was going 80 in a 55, I love it...

As for how I drive my truck...II start off slow - then I gradually go up to speed until someone is going slower than me or I reach my limit.

Cops always go faster, how are they going to catch anyone speeding if they stay with the same group of traffic on the road? Your road rage is gonna get you into an accident.

Road rage? Hell, I'm about as monotone when it comes to emotions as it gets...- Im just not afraid to let people know that I think they suck.

I dont have much road rage - I just have pet peeves...

    1) No turn signals...
    2) Going in the passing lane at the speed limit... (wtf)
    3) Braking 50 feet and not advancing your signal (see number 1)

And I think every speed limit is about 10 to slow.

As for this cop, he was going 80 to get home - plain and simple`

    Works for me.

Although I said one thing and you took it somewhere else.

All I said is- I dont like unmarked cars or cars without lights, for I think it is not right. Then you guys started talking about getting pulled over and how I shouldnt speed.

Where I clearly stated several times that... one day I will get pulled over, because I speed every single day to and from work - and everywhere else I go...

So not only do I speed, I do it every single day. If people REALLY suck at driving one day - Ill swerve in and out of traffic, granted, I wont go in the other lane until I can see the person in my rearview mirror and I always use my signals...

And just because I think speed limits are to slow and people in general cant drive (fact) - I have road rage.

Yeah you guys are f*cking lunatics.

Well if you define good driving...

    1) Braking for 50 feet to turn, then putting on the signal in the turning lane...
    2) No turn signals
    3) Resting in the passing lane at the speed limit
    4) Swerving
    5) Cutting across two lanes or more at a time
    6) Speeding to the next red light as fast as you can so you can stop again
    7) Pulling out in front of people in the passing lane when doing a U-Turn or turning in general

    - Then I am a horrible driver.

But then again, That seems to be how most people drive. So chances are you drive like that. So... haha, I guess I can see how you would say I drive bad when I dont do any of those things 90% of the time.

I would never pull over for an unmarked police car on a high way, at night, or some place that was somewhat secluded.

Ive been pulled over by a detective before in an unmarked impala. The only lights he had were the flashing head lights (like Walker texas ranger's:D)

He was tailgating me all the way through town. I had a extended cab gmc full size truck, not lifted or anything, and i could not see his head lights lights for 1/2 a mile. So I do what i always do when ppl tail gate me, tap my brakes. The first time I didnt brake, just hit them to where the lights came on. Didnt get off my **** (mind you were on a 2-lane road with the other lane clear). So i did it again, nothing. I get in the other lane, he follows me without losing a beat. So i start to slowly slow down, nothing. So I slam on my brakes...lol...all the while not knowing this guy was a cop...hmmm...

Anyway, he finally gets off my **** and i see his head lights flashing, so i pull in a convenience store. He gets out and goes to my window, not in uniform, i ask to see his badge with the truck still in gear and window rolled up...doors locked. He slips it through the crack and i put my truck in park and roll down the window. He said he was pulling me over b/c i peeled out in the high school parking lot. I didnt think i did but its very possible. The truck i had was very light in the back and there was always a lot of loose gravel in our parking lot. It was not intentional if it happened.

Anyway, im pretty pissed off and couldnt contain it. Not my best move ever, but they are supposed to be inforcing the law, not committing crimes. I honestly think he was trying to get me to speed up so he could get me for speeding. He asked for my license and i gave it to him, we had some words, he threatened to impound my truck, he asked for my parents phone number so he could contact them, i told him i wasnt going to give it to him, i was 18 and he had no right in asking for that. He let me off with a verbal warning...

I dont think i had ever been more pissed off in my life and im really leary of police officers now. I know theyre not all bad, but jesus christ.

But back to the original point of the thread, like i said, i would not pull over for an unmarked car, even if he was in uniform. I dont care if i have to drive 10 miles to a town, i value my life at a little more than the price of a ticket they would give me. If it was any kind of good cop, he would understand that.

In the last 2 weeks I have seen a cop on a highlift by a overpass with radar gun and radio in hand calling about 5 motorcycle cops down below and I have seen a cop with same items in between North and South bound lanes sitting on a bicycle path barrier the runs between the 2 doing the same thing. The thing that bugs me the most is in both incidents they were over 8 feet above the ground with no sort of safety restraint or helmet. I know in my state OSHA requirement is to be tied off if over 8 feet. I am not sure if they get to be exempt from this

its been proven that girls under 25 are more likely to have a wreck than guys under 25. The reason insurance is higher for males is because males in that age drive more than females, thus there is a higher number of wrecks in males under 25.

He means the probability of any single female under 25 having a wreck would be higher if she drived the same amount of a male under 25.

If they (all the girls and boys under 25) all had attitudes like Sid's, it would be a scary thing. Hopefully, they don't. It also appears reality is scarier than logic. Do you have a daughter? If so, do you want her riding with Sid? Or should SHE drive if she does ride with Sid.

actually "GUYS" under 25 and unmarried have higher insurance.. Not girls, ive never heard that either.. Guys have a higher accident rate, and like GG said.. if they all think like Trey they should pay more ... all i need is Trey slamming into my SUV with my wife and kids because "he likes to drive fast and in and out of traffic"
