Hey guys,
Thanks for taking a look at this thread! Now for the big question. If you were in my shoes, would you buy a very gently used Parasound HALO A23 for the very reasonable price of $529 or would rather drop about a hundred more dollars and get two Outlaw M2200 monoblocks?
What would you do?

Just a little more info., I want to use the new amp whichever I choose to power two RTi8s for my personal stereo system.

Parasound is a very differennt beast from the outlaw.
I highly recommend the parasound halo series.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!
The SRT SEISMIC System:
Four main satellite speakers, six powered subs, two dedicated for LFE channel, two center speakers for over/under screen placement and three Control Centers. Amaze your friends, terrorize your neighbors, seize the audio bragging rights for your state. Go ahead, buy it; you only go around once. -
Parasound.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm not that familar with outlaw,, so,, I prefer the halo.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

DO you guys have any opinion on how the A23 would meld with my Yammie HTR5890? Right now I don't have the money to buy a new preamp as well, but hope to in the future.

If it's me, Parasound Halo.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Parasound... especially if you're primarily listening to music.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Would the A23 work well with a Yamaha HTR-5890 until I get the money for a new preamp?

It should work fine. The only potential problem is if there is an impedance mismatch between the Parasound amp and the receiver. You'd notice this as a minor buzzing (not a ground loop hum) from the tweeters on your speakers, which may or may not be annoying to you. This happened to me with a Yamaha receiver and a Rotel amp, but not with a Sony receiver and the same amp. You might want to ask the question on the Parasound forum on Home Theater Guide to see if someone there has used a Yamaha receiver with an A23 without a problem. -
Parasound...in my book, very "musical" amps indeed.
Not knocking the Outlaws, but I think they are geared more for HT application. -
Outlaw M200's x 6 in the HT, they rock for HT! Not exactly the most musical amps IMHO. Running Parasound HCA-1500 x 2 for the 2 ch rig. Very nice with the Magnepan's.DKG999

I like the outlaws, first time playing with seperates so I cant say much. Im sure both do the job well. Im thinking of adding another Outlaw M2200 to bi-amp my center, or either just jumping on a nice 3 channel amp.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Run, do not walk, and get the Halo. Outlaws are good, but the Halo gear is just another league.
