    It's too bad the guy got beat up. HOWEVER...I am sick of all of the "investigative reporters" of today. They all want to be the next Woodward and Bernstein and uncover the Story of the Century. Most of them are full of crap. I could never even watch "60 Minutes" and their "Expos

    I'm with shack. Even if I DID do something wrong, if some smarmy reporter like this one ever walked up in my personal space with crap like that, I would do everything I could to make him hurt. They think they have complete immunity, and they're usually right, I love it when they're smug sense of self-importance gets shoved in their face.

    Yeah, I too have rooted for the guy with the camera stuck in his face to just open up a can on an **** reporter.

    the reporter was interviewed by Matt this morning on NBC. I have to say, his smirk and grin told me that he pushed the envelope, to instigate the reaction from those two couples. Havin' said that, it boils me when the wife said something along the line of "I see you on the other side of the border, and we'll see what happened to you." Wait a minute, aren't you living on this side of the border, ****? Definitely we need to do something with that kind of attitudes, or I'll ship your sorry **** across the border...

    Oh, grow up. No one said the con man was innocent, just that we've all seen these reporters be way inappropriate with people who DON'T deserve it, including grieving parents, and they act like they're invincible, and this just shows them they're not. I can't see the video from work, so I can't ocmment on this PARTICULAR case, but I have no problem with those **** investigative reporters getting their asses kicked once in a while.

    I love how the same folks who have problems with any kind of vigilantism have NO problems with these kind of reporters, who are essentially vigiliantes. If someone's a con man, you CALL THE COPS. That's what they're there for. If you confront them, you'll get your **** kicked. Pretty simple.

    well, since you can't see the video, I'll just let you know that there are no grieving parents in it.

    The reporter was interviewing someone who was considering doing business with the scam artist and was warning him about him when out of nowhere the scam artist's wife comes up and starts cussing and hitting the reporter. Then, the scam artist himself shows up and punches the guy in the face and breaks a few of his ribs.

    Are there bad reporters? Sure. Was this guy pushing his luck? Maybe. Did he deserve to get his **** kicked? I personally don't think so. And I also don't think I'm the one that needs to grow up. :mad:

    All's I'm saying is that that breed of reporter (not all, or even most of reporters, just the ones like this who get in people's faces, guilty or not) are asking for this. I'm not taking the side of the conman - he deserves to go to jail, and like Darla says, doubly so because of the assault now. But reporters aren't cops. Cops are trained to confront criminals. Reporters literally TRy to get these people to get mad so they hav ea good story, and think they're invincible as they hide behind their microphone. They're not.

    Not to mention, that you shouldn't believe everything you see on TV. Maybe this case was more open and shut, and it was obvious this was a conman, but they usually have oen of these stories EVERY NIGHT, how many of them do you think are just distorted or exaggerated truth? I've seen them coming up to people in their driveways, when they're with their families, yelling at them for things like taking a vacation while in office, or for using a government vehicle to pick up groceries, or other kinds of tiny offenses that don't really negatively affect ANYONE. It's those stories that make me not care what happens to those scumbags.

    The couple hadn't been found guilty of anything. If I'm not mistaken, the interview with the "prospective" SCAMMEE was being conducted on the lawn or in front of the couple's home, too. IF that's the case, then I would probably have reacted similarly, but would have smart enough to get the cameraman first:D

    even though some of these reporters are invading people's privacy.. If it were you or me getting scammed, on a house, a car , some work you needed done.. we would feel differently.. if a reporter was the last chance to get something done...

    sometimes business's blow you off and wont resolve an issue until the police or news are involved.

    what's next, we condone fist fights.. what if he pulled a gun and shot the guy in a fit of rage..

    It's not the answer and we can't allow this, ya call the cops

    Finally someone sees the other side. I am a cameraman... and trust me when i say this.. we don't "enjoy" going to speak to conmen scumbags.. we don't enjoy going to speak to grieving family members.. we don't enjoy covering funerals where 5 kids all under the age of 8 were killed. It's our job. Plus our editors are they ones who tell us to go knock on the scumbag conman's door or try to confront them.

    WHY? It makes for good TV. I admit that 100%. Would that story be as good if you didn't confront the scumbag conman? What if you were his next victim? Wouldn't you want to know what a dirtbag this guy is?

    TV media reporters can and do, do some good. But like everything else... are only mentioned when something bad happens or they get their **** kicked. Peronally. I have never gotten my **** kicked. I have had to photograph upset and grieving family members. It's the worst part of my job. I hate it. I'm not saying i hate my job, just certain parts of it.

    I work for a small-town paper, and though our share of investigative journalism is limited, incidents happen. Fortunately, our editor doesn't have us instigate confrontations for the sake of a story. But many times, confrontations happen regardless due to the severity of the story unfolding. Scams, cheats, and cons are going to be on the defensive by their very nature, and sometimes asking a simple question (by no means inflammatory) can lead to a shouting match at the very least....

    However, I can't say I condone this reporter's actions...

    PORTLAND, Oregon (AP) -- A nurse returning from work discovered an intruder armed with a hammer in her home and strangled him with her bare hands, police said.

    Susan Kuhnhausen, 51, ran to a neighbor's house after the confrontation Wednesday night. Police found the body of Edward Dalton Haffey 59, a convicted felon with a long police record.

    Police said there was no obvious sign of forced entry at the house when Kuhnhausen, an emergency room nurse at Providence Portland Medical Center, got home from work shortly after 6 p.m.

    Under Oregon law people can use reasonable deadly force when defending themselves against an intruder or burglar in their homes. Kuhnhausen was treated and released for minor injuries at Providence.

    Haffey, about 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, had convictions including conspiracy to commit aggravated murder, robbery, drug charges and possession of burglary tools. Neighbors said Kuhnhausen's size -- 5-foot-7 and 260 pounds -- may have given her an advantage.

    "Everyone that I've talked to says 'Hurray for Susan,' said neighbor Annie Warnock, who called 911.

    "You didn't need to calm her. She's an emergency room nurse. She's used to dealing with crisis."

So hypothetically, one of us goes to leave our home one night, and Trigg is outside in the bushes. Stomps the **** out of said forum member for warning all other members not to do business with him.

    When the John Maites's (the reporter) sitdown with Larry King from last night is posted on his website, then i'll put it up.

    This guy wasn't simply bothering people in their private lives. These two have been under a 3month investigation not only for real-estate fraud, but also assaulting tenants and threatening them with gun-speak. The reporters were there interviewing those tenants when the wife came out and went crazy. The guy that tried to break up the fight between the reporter and Psycho-boy was one of the ones who was assaulted physically (he had his chest bitten into, no ****).

    Blaming the reporter might be the easy thing to do here, especially as under a first impression, but if you actually read about the case and see that what this reporter was doing was nothing above and beyond his job description, and you finally see these two psychos for who they really are, (during the scuffle the wife left the scene momentarily to get her husband's gun in the car but couldn't find it!!) then imo it's impossible to defend them, or at the very least blame the reporter. Much more here than meets the eye.
