Opera/Firefox

I've finally gotten tired of Netscape's long load-up times, hang-ups, hitches, glitches, and lock-ups. So, I just re-installed Opera a few days ago, as I remembered liking it before. I like the overall layout of Opera and the way everything works, especially the mouse gestures, but it's slow! I didnt' remmeber it being slow, but it not only loads pages slowly but it also slows down my computer! I didn't think it was that much of a resource hog. It's much worse in that aspect than Netscape was.

Is there something I can change in Opera to fix that, or should I just download firefox and get that Mouse Gestures 'plugin' and start customizing?

Sounds like it may be time for you to run this:

SpyCatcher does a lot better job than my McAffe/Ad-Aware combo.

Whao, wait a minute. Netscape hasalways run slow. It's not my computer. There's a very noticeable difference between playing on my computer with Opera loading a page, and playing on my computer with Opera closed. So, it's not my computer. IE works very well. I just don't want to use it.

However, I am on my laptop right now since I'm defraging my desktop as I type this, and then I'm going to run adaware and spybot.

I switched from IE to Firefox a few weeks ago and like Firefox better. Tabbed browsing is by far my favorite feature. The downloadable extensions are a nice touch, depending on what you're looking for. Give Firefox a try ;)

I've got Opera downloaded at school to try it. Its okay.

I had to uninstall Firefox from my computer at home because it seemed to be messing with my Frontpage files when I updated my website this week.

Netscape still exists? What is this, 1992?
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I'm currently viewing with Firefox! Netscape has been uninstalled!

Now I just need to get these mouse gestures setup...

+1 I'm still working on the integrations but I like how it doesn't get attacked by spyware/adware like my IE did.

I like features like the "one click" option, amongst others, that Mozilla offers, and yes, Thuggy, the anti-spy/adware works much better than anything else.

I've been an active user of Opera for at least the past 4 years and I have never had it run slow or load a page slowly unless I was on a 56K connection.

It's faster than Firefox by multitudes and it feels faster than IE (IMHO). It sounds like something is either wrong with your install or possibly with your system.

I'd try uninstalling it and removing all files for Opera (Check Program Files/Opera) and then try reinstalling the latest version.

I really liked Opera's mouse gestures than the 'extension' for Firefox. I just might try reinstalling Opera. We'll see how I get acclimated to Firefox.
