I received this from a vendor friend who is involved in the design of
computer operating systems. It's a simple diagram of how a computer
works. It's amazing how an animated diagram like this can simplify an
operating system as it performs its tasks.
Once you grasp this simple demonstration, you are well on your way to fully
understanding a computer's basic design and inner workings. Turn on your
sound; it will helps make the diagram more clear.

That diagram is only applicable up to Windows XP, though.
Vista's coming and with the simplification of Windows functions that Bill Gates has promised, I think that this diagram will be simplified by at least 55 %.
A few less accumulators and registers, although the stacks are supposed to go up.
