hey im in the process of making a new HT setup and as of now i have my rti70's and i just bought a denon avr-2106 and csi5 ill prolly end up getting rti4/6 for rears and im contemplating getting a new sub since mine is a KLH 100 watt sub that i got at costco like 4 years ago. i need some recommendations of subs to pair with these speakers, i listen to music a lot and will be watching more dvds so id say like 560% music 40% HT (subs dont have to be polk). id also like some thoughts on an amp to help power the rti70's cus ive been reading a lot of threads and everyone says their speakers sound a lot better once they power them with a beefier amp or bi amp them.

well, there exists a LOT cheap to be had and Polk certainly follows suit. It sounds like you have the right idea. Music and movies don't go very low. you must decide what you want in a system. for example: clarity; future proof; volume; price; etc. with those in mind, for example, you will get a lot of help. In my case, Polk and Outlaw audio and SVS suited every need I had. But there are many answers to that predicament. How big is your room and how loud do you listen?

    Movies dont go very low?

Ive seen charts of 10hz in some movies.

    Thats pretty low.

Orchestra goes well into the 20s and Organ can go far into the subsonics...

It takes a real mans sub to step onto the playing field, IMO.
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

my room will be a living room in an apartment but that is just temporary cus im still in college so im not worried about setting it up for that. i listen to music anywhere from just casual listening to making all of my neighbors hate me and call in for noise complaints. i definitely want a sub that will perform well all around and is of quality because anyone can get a cheap sub and think it sounds good just cus it hits pretty hard.
