This also comes from a self admitted vehicle beater :D did you buy the jeep or did your parents? AB

when you spend hard earned money on a vehicle.. we've had alot of vehicles old and new, you protect that investment.. if someone hits my SUV damm right its getting reported. chances are if you don't cut corners and get the price real low for them they aint paying out of pcoket anyways,

your thinking to much how you would deal with the situation when/if you backed up into someone, not how an adult who paid and worked hard for said car/truck and can't afford to take a chance and be stuck with a bill they can't maybe pay.. for someone elses mistake..

I wouldn't have said anything about who insured the truck and who drove it, they could deny payment for just that reason.. i surely would have reported it though,

I have zero accidents, and safe driver status and 2 speeding tickets ever in my life.. ive drove since 15 with a restricted.. I cherish and respect good drivers and have none for careless people..

another thing, nothing peaves me more then coming out to my truck and seeing a grocery cart inches away from my door, bumper or behind my suv when someone could have put it where it go's and not ready for the wind to blow it into my ****

Well, the initial estimate came back today at $2,023.00. That is only an estimate for the body work, which will be 1) New Fender, 2) New OEM Headlight, 3) New Fender Flare, 4) Paint, including painting into the hood and door to match. They will examine the front end once they take the fender off, so costs could still very well rise, which I think will happen. When I drove it to the shop, it had a pretty bad pull to the left and was making all kinds of racket when I would turn the wheel. And to boot, the girl has not answered or returned a single call from my insurance adjuster. My insurance company has suggested that I file a police report, which I'm debating whether or not I want to do.

I usually opt for whatever my insurance company wants me to do. Having the police report may help protect their ability and rights to recover money from her, which may make them more willing to fully cover your damage. It also may eliminate your deductible as they can recover that from her also.
