That table is just about the minimum level to keep most serious listeners from wanting to upgrade right away. For 1/3rd that price, you will probably have upgraditis before you finish setting the table up!
Russ, isn't the HW-19 a little wider than most equipment? May want to measure and let folks know so they don't get it and find out they need a new rack just to fit it.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
Yes, the HW-19 IS a little wider than standard so take that into consideration.
I have the HW-19 MKIII and can't speak highly enough about it. The arm and the cartridge alone are damn near worth the price of admission.
Also, the HW-19 is fully upgradable and the parts are pretty easy to come by on the used market.
No brainer here, fellas. If I didn't have one, I'd have this one.

If you want a decent starter table, and can do used - get a Thorens 125, 145, 160. Swiss arm, easily setup and upgraded. Bullet proof reliability, belt driven, good sound.
New, check out the MMF2.1 and the Goldring GR-1. Both a LOT of table, for not a lot of money. Usually the tables people buy to see if they want to get into (or back into) listening to vinyl. If they don't care for it, they move on without much invested - if they do care for it, they upgrade to something like the VPI.
Getting started in vinyl is like saying 'I think want a motorcycle.' Don't go out and buy a 30K custom chopper, only to find out you don't like it as much as you thought you would. Go bag a used Honda 750 or the like and ride it around for a while.
Cheers,

This is a good entry level (high end entry level) table at a great price. It isn't often you can get started for this price.

Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want...
