Rich, I just checked the USPS website. It says the package was delivered...... at 3:24AM today. That delivery time looks a little suspect. You got a package?

Glad to hear you're covered Fred. Two separate packages right?

George, I found it lying on the front porch today. Mail can arrive here from noon to late afternoon. They didn't even ring the door bell. At least it didn't go to that other house with the same number but on a different street.

Thank you George! Please send me a PM with payment info.

Okay, minor setback. It appears I didn't inspect that last batch close enough. While I did find and pull some mint but warped ones (The Kids Are Alright, Tattoo You, Born To Run, and a host of other heavies), some got through to customers. Capecodder got one warp out of six selections, and Reeltrouble got 7 out of 32. I feel terrible for Codder, but am less inclined to feel bad for Ted simply due to his selfishness. I mean, if he only selected 15 or so, then the odds of getting SEVEN warps is obviously astronomical. So be it, and maybe a lesson learned for Ted.

If anybody else received a mint but warped and was hesitant to say so, please don't be. You can use this forum to chime in and I'll make it right.

    No Ted jokes please.

That's what "The Clamp" is for. Don't frisbee the warped ones, I'll try them.

I buy vinyl all too often that's been sealed in shrink wrap for 25+ years and warped from the very thing meant to protect it. The shrink wrap keeps shrinking, slowly but surely, over time.

Oh, and Ted: you're ugly and your Mom dresses you funny. ;)

True, but at least I actually get dressed. In my case The Clamp was not an answer.

I would participate in a Consortium of Members buying one of those vinyl presses for the Club, if we could get other members to share the cost we could pass it around so we can "fix" our collections warps.

Yes I too have found that my wonder clamp doesn't always get those curved side warps completely out. . . I'm embarrassed but it is a fact of life and there probably is no better clamp out there so if this can't clear the warp I would venture to say nothing but a vacuum hold down system would and even that is suspect.

I am so in on that!!!

There is only one problem there Kimosabe, I think the thing takes two hours to flatten a record. I have oh lets say 2K records (probably more) how long is it going to take to flatten out maybe 20% of those records?

But I am still in on it!!!

Tonto, You will be so last to get the thing but thanks for snitching yourself out. I would say we would set a time limit for having it and then send it on, just keep it rotation, or one guy keeps it and spends his life flattening out the rest of the guys records, in any event I dont want to pop 2 large on one by myself. I only have about 15 records at most to press out so its not like I could not just try and replace the albums themself and forget about it.

Anybody ever try the between two pieces of plate glass in the oven thing? I haven't.

The ones I did pull out aren't getting played, clamp or not. They're warped but good. Damn shame in mint condition and all.

Preheat the oven to I don't know how many degrees, put the vinyl in between the two pieces of plate glass, put it in the oven for I don't know how long.

How could we get a "Club Polk" memebers owned one of these. Maybe we could get a list of interested members together and write up an agreement, pool our mulla and purchase one maybe like a swap thread. I think the hardest part would be the constant shipping of the device.

Troy says, "Wendi said she will work out a payment plan with you."

George says, ..................actually, George doesn't say ****. He's drooling too hard and jumping all over the room.

Yes Troy, good idea. Tell her I have even more albums.

According to Mikey Fremer (Stereophile) Furutech came out with a new one at the CES. It is a Furutech DFV - 1 for $1360 and it takes two hours to flatten the LP. $1360 makes this much much more affordable to me.

Then I'm not going to throw these away.

If you buy one of those, think about all the money you'll make straightening out warped records I sell to people. I'll try and compile you a list of people in your area.

At 5 bucks a pop (and zero overhead), one could make back one's investment in only 272 disc flattenings. I am sure I have a copy of "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" to use for practice.
