I was talking to my boss for about a hour the other day - I had made a few mistakes on a rather large PA sale... well more so - alot of things I havnt explored before happened all at once and the people there to walk me through it werent there to properly do it. So alot happened in a short amount of time - but its all worked out now...

But regardless.. my boss was sharing a story with me about my manager and this time he had sold a Martin guitar to someone...

Basically a guy came in and offered my manager 500 bucks for a 1,000 dollar Martin guitar. HA right? Well, basically this is the kind of dude that ranted on and on about how he has 500 dollar shoes, owns a 10,000 dollar Strataverious(sp) Violion, yada yada yada - dude ranted and raved and was loud as piss...

So basically my manager goes back and talks it over with my boss. My Boss told him to go out and do this... "Take the guitar, and shove it in his face, right up on it and go "Do you not think the price is worth it...or do you think a man like you just cant afford it?" and then he said, when you say this to him the guy is gonna go on and on about how he can and why he can, yada yada and then hes gonna make him an offer. So my manager went out there and did it and the guy offered him like 900 some bucks...

I got a kick out of the story and I wish I had saw it...

Another one was where a lady kept saying she could get a better deal else where, so my boss told him to tell her a price, say it was a good deal - then pick everything up and walk to the counter, ring her up and let her be on her way. That worked too...

Sales are fun.

Im having a good month. Cheers.

Right on Sid. It's a game and you need to learn the rules. Keep at it and you will get better. The final note is make sure you are having fun.

Im having ALOT of fun with this job...

Im in charge of stocking the PA section and I have a wall of subs about 7' tall, 10' wide and I got 2 more subs on the way along with some towers...

Basically Im keeping NO backstock - everything is on the floor and it looks gigantuous. I love it. Its so intimidating to walk through there...

    Fun fun fun fun!!!

Good to hear you're doing well, learning about the business, and having fun.

However, I'm not in such a great mood.

Whatever you do in life, treat others like you want to be treated. Most good sales people do more listening than talking. Always be courteous and polite, be a class act. People want to buy from nice people. It makes them feel good.
