Denon 2807 & PSW650

I just bought the PSW650 from BlueMDPicker. I also bought a Monster400 subwoofer cable.

I know this has been asked already, but I have somewhat of a different question.

I am going to be hooking the subwoofer up via LFE. From the Denon Pre-out to the PSW650 LFE/Subwoofer In. I got that part.

Now, on the Denon setup screens:

1) What do I set my speakers on? "Large" or "Small"? I have RTi10s in the front, Csi5 as the center and RTi8's as the rear.
2) I understand, I have to set the subwoofer level to 80hz. If I set the speakers to small, their levels remain at 40hz, should I leave them there or change the to 80hz as well?
3) This question is VERY IMPORTANT!!! What do I set my subwoofer level on: "LFE" or "LFE+MAIN"??? What is the difference?
4)Lastly, what is the best way to callibrate the subwoofer with the new speaker setup?

Currently, I have to put the volume on the subwoofer to "9" to really feel anything and the denon goes up to -10db to -5db for movies. I know its not callibrated correctly and that may be why.

Examples or step-thrus would really really help.

Thank you ALL
Dizzy

    Congrats on the new sub.
1)For what you've got, I would set the fronts to large, the center to small, and the rears to large (I'm sure the 8s' can handle the bass). Some say to set all to small, so I guess it's really a matter of personal preference. But I have my setup as described above, and it works for me, only I have a powered sub for my surrounds as well. :)
    2) I would set the levels to 80Hz all around
    3) I prefer LFE + Main with my Denon, as I believe this will send a full signal to the fronts and sub, rather than just the fronts. This is more for music
than movies, I think, so experiment and go with what sounds best.
    4) You may want to set the Ext In SW Level ( Sect 3.2 for the 2106 ) to the default of +15dB if it's not already done. I have my PSW450 set to about the 12 o'clock position, and that seems to give plenty of bass. I also use the auto calibrate that Denon offers, as I do not have a SPL meter.
Hope that helps a little. Good luck.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

What about the subwoofer channel? Should I leave that at 0.0db or change it? I currently have the Ext in at 0.0db. If I up it to 15db, does that add more bass? I don't have the sub plugged into the "EXT IN" SW, it's in the "PRE-OUT" SW.

Currently, I have 80hz all around. All speakers set to small and I believe I may be running it into LFE only, have to double check.

The bass really does kick when I am listening to music. I have to set the AVR to DVD DIRECT, since I am playing it from my dvd player. If I have it set to anything else, it doesn't sound right. I guess the DIRECT/STEREO is used only for music.

I may want to change the 10s to LARGE and test it out...since they do have passive bass, wouldn't hurt to use it...would it?

    Thanks

I would leave the sub level at 0 (as you have it now), but set the other level to +15dB. Mine was set there as the default setting, so I didn't have to change it. I would say it would add more bass.

OK, you mean either "Direct" or "Pure Direct", right? That should be cool. 80Hz
is how mine is set up too.

No, I don't believe so. I only have R50s, and mine are set to large, and they sound fine for movies. But, I also have an unpowered sub (vintage RadioShack!) which I have set up on a series of home-built switches for listening to two-channel only.

    Hope that helps.
