I know that this has been answered here before but I'm new to the forum so please give me a pass.

What is the difference in 0-180, what does it actually do?

I just switched my PSW 505 to '180' and my whole HT sounds much better but I still don't understand what I did.

It controls the polarity of the subwoofer. Same effect as switching speaker wires around on the terminals. It causes the woofer to move out when it would normally move in. This allows for adjustment for distance from the main speakers to get them back into phase. Louder sound indicates the sub is in more phase with the mains.

As Dennis stated, it's a phase adjustment to "synchronize" your sub to your other speakers. Doing frequency sweeps will help you discover if you have a phase issue, and where is the best adjustment.

Can you explain what a frequency sweep does. My woofer doesn't really sound in-tune with my other speakers around the room.
