Needing an HDMI cable

I am currently using component cables on my HDTV DVR, and I am in the market for a decent HDMI cable. Does anyone have one they are willing to part with for a reasonable price. They are kind of pricey, and I wanted to check around before I spend a grip for one. Thanks.

If anyone here other than me is using component cables for HDTV, stop it right now and get an HDMI cable. ;)

Great find! They even have the built-in ferrite magnets to control EMI.

Thanks a million Anonymouse. They ripped my pal a new one at Circuit city yesterday. He paid $100.00 for an HDMI cable for his new Sony. I will be getting one ordered soon. Heck maybe even a few extra.
By the way, does the Xbox 360 have an HDMI hook-up?

FYI, I just looked into HDMI cables at Bluejeancables.com Andy, one of the reps, said several customers had mentioned they were disappointed with performance after going from component to B.Jean HDMI's. Bluejeancables has a good rep and are Belden quality, so it makes one wonder if there is a real difference. Andy said that yes, mathematically, they made sense, but in reality...Perhaps its possible that when one is looking at a damn good picture via components to begin with, HDMI doesn't make much difference.

other than keeping the signal digital, i haven't found anybody who truely noticed a big difference going from component to HDMI/DVI cable.

Component is pretty damn good looking to me.

If you still need one Landry, I've got an Audioquest one that I could give you a good deal on. You could drop by and get one day and check out my demo systems.

Hope everything is going good for you. Pop in more often to let us know how you are doing.

Yea, and since it seems that many AVR's, including mine don't yet have HDMI switching, I'm not messing with it. Component looks pretty sweet to me and I have cheap **** cables at the moment. COMPONENT RULES!!!!

    Hey, Zach.
How is the new little one? Fine I hope. I ended up buying an Hdmi cable (Phillips) from Wal-Mart of all places. Wish I had known about that AQ cable before I got this one. I like this Phillips cable pretty well, I get a nice picture as you can see in the system showcase. Me and my family noticed a difference in PQ right away. Maybe I had crappy component cables or something.
I would like to drop in more often, but working two jobs is a handful. I will do better though. Take care and talk to ya soon Zach.
By the way thanks again for the SVS, and also send me a list of cables that you have and would be willing to part with. Or give me a call.

I hear you on working the two-three jobs thing.

That is one reason I didn't see your post until last night.

Little ones are doing fine. The little girl is sleeping through the night now.

I've got a couple pair of AQ 1m sidwinders in stock at the moment, as well as a couple AQ digital audio cables(don't remember the models off the top of my head). I've also got the HDMI-X that I am not using at the moment. Just let me know if you are interested in any of them.

    Have a good one.

Were they dissapointed in the quality, or that they couldn't see an improvement in over component?

I also have not been able to see a difference switching between Bluejeans component and HDMI with HD cable. The only benefit I've experienced with HDMI is that it transmitts the upconverted 720p/1080i signal from my DVD player, and the component output will not (limitation of the player, not component cables).

My understanding/impression was that they actually were disappointed with the quality and that they liked component better, but I may have misunderstood. I do believe he used the word "disappointed." I appreciated that being that it came from a company that stands to profit on selling more cables.

Point taken on the upconversion. That alone is worth having the availability. I know getting certain HD/upgraded signals from various players is dependent on the type of connection.
