Can you get a receipt from USPS from a mail you sent out a few days ago?

They didnt give me a receipt and I got a feeling Im about to need it.

And what would you say a regular time period for USPS to go from NC to Indiana?

Did you get a tracking number? If it went Media Mail, depending on the size it could take a week. First Class mail should take about three or four business days.

Well basically its taken 5 days, was sent out on Monday.

And in reality, I dont have any idea if this thing has arrived or if it hasnt because the guy hasnt told me jacksh*t. This is BS, the lack of communication alone wants to make me cancel the thing and buy something else. I guess I expect a bit to much.

But do you think the Post Office would have what I sent on file under my address on the computer?

Let this just be a note to anyone that deals with me in future transactions... whether I am the buyer or the seller, it dosnt matter. I want confirmation on EVERYTHING that I send you and everything you send me. Dosnt matter if its the first time Ive dealt with you or the 50th, it dosnt take much to make me think a good transaction is a so-so because you dont/didnt follow up.

Unless it is registered mail...........they don't keep a detailed receipt. Even first class is unregistered.

Don't worry yet, 5 days is nothing in mail order time. I waited 7 weeks for delivery of a bicycle this summer.

The transit time depends on the method but that should be about 2-3 days tops for anything but Media Mail.

The PO is not obligated to provide you a duplicate receipt. You should have known better Trey, you're not new to this. I would track something I sent to you...and expect the same from you....it's business man.

I've sold alot of stuff thru Half.com via Media Mail and always use Delivery Confirmation. I don't need the hassle for $.60.

DC has worked fine for me for years, if it sucks, so be it.

My step-mom just retired from the Chicago(LOOP) area, and I'll forward that comment to her. Since you live in Chicago, you've seen her on the news :)

There was a note enclosed in the mail to let me know when it arrives, and an email was sent to let him know that. Im not going to "chill" when my hard earned cash is floating somewhere, possibly not where its supposed to be and I cant really do anything about it because I dont know where its at.

I mean all hes looking at is a 5 second reply to my email "It arrived today." - Send

    All I need.

Nothing personal with your step mom, but the USPS is in serious need of a health check. They should probably go the way of the Royal Mail in the UK... privatize the whole thing and clean up the operation.

It would not be just the fact that 3 packages with delivery confirmation were similarly marked "delivered" and not, but the complete apathy from every department in that office. The only thing that got me a call back was sending an email through USPS.com, which quicky got me a call from an sleepy sounding, but highly agitated guy asking why I had gone through usps.com. Nothing happened, there was no follow up, and my packages were never found. They were supposedly "delivered" after all, as far as the usps is concerned. Take their word for it.

As much as we rail on Fedex and UPS, they are an order of magnitude more accountable than this bureaucratic excuse for a postal system.

Obviously, no offense taken. It's certainly not a trailblazer of customer service, but I know alot of other organizations that follow suit...namely Sprint Nextel. Welcome to Capitalism.

I've never understood why, at some point, everyone rails against a shipping method. I've shipped so much stuff and if I had a problem, there is a recourse and I've always been satisfied. I guess you folks are doing something wrong.
