Interconnects and the weakest link.

Ok, so I upgraded most of my interconnects to stuff from Audio Art. But then I realized that the back of some of my amps don't have RCA connections, but rather, 1\4 inch phone jacks. So I have to use 1\4 to RCA connectors at that point. Did I just lose all the benefits of the expensive interconnects?

No, and don't think about it so much or you'll just go thru this whole thing again. DH Labs provides an excellent base for any aftermarket IC.

Yep, you're screwed. Gotta buy them all over again. Kinda defeats the purpose to have a connector on an interconnect. It will probably add color to the sound. Only one way to find out, though, before you return them -- make a trip to the Rat Shack, spend $3, and do an A/B demo.

Hearing it from you makes me breath a sigh of relief. I checked DH Labs website and they don't have the proper connector listed anywhere. I picked some up some temporary "regular" connectors until I can locate some "fancy pants" connectors.

    Thanks.

I have no choice to put connectors on the interconnects. Perhaps I should look into changing the 1/4 inch jacks on the rear of the amp to RCA connectors.

PM DaveShepard and ask him about geting you squared away with the correct DH Labs terminations or cables.

If you cannot get what you want from DH Labs I recommend using the gold plated ones from radio shack. They do the job very nicely. They are a 1/4th inch phono plug with an RCA on the other side. All one piece and built nicely.

Ok, I'll check out the Radio Shack connectors, btw, is it a big job to actually replace the connector in the amp with an RCA female connector?

I assume that Dave Shepard is the main guy at DH Labs?

i'im curious what kind of gear do you have the uses those kinds of connectors? is it more along the lines of a PA amp... or pro audio gear or something. I haven't seen 1/4 inch plugs used in home stereo gear for a long time.

I have 3 Bose 1801 amps and 1 Bose 1800 amp. They are old vintage amps, very powerful too, the 1801's weigh 83 pounds each. They all have 1/4 plugs instead of rca connectors.
