I'm off to interview with a department in the company. This could be a pretty substantial career and $$$ boost if everything goes well.

Just looking for some of that Polk Forum love that seems to assist me when interviewing.

Thanks all!

John

    Best o' luck to ya!

    Give 'em hell Harry!
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

    Thanks everyone!

Things went VERY well. Essentially, this is a different department within the company. They design and build fullblown networks from the desktop on up to the server level (domain controllers, SANS, etc for the IT geeks). Now for the cool part. Once they are designed, built and fully tested, they are shipped off to the client site where we meet them to install and train their people on the fundamentals.

Now for the REALLY cool part. We're talking extended stay travel (2 weeks on up to 6 months) to places like Alaska, Hawaii, England, Germany, etc...

Again, things went very well. He said they need me and he'll put in a strong recomendation to bring me on soon.

This won't affect my Polk Fest attendance.

Thanks again for the good wishes!

Congrats John. The "really cool part" gets really old in a hurry. 30 years of world travel, the only thing I want to see is my own backyard.

It's a pretty well kept secret, but England is about the worst place on the planet.

Thanks George! I'm sure at some point it will, but having seen "my own back yard" (Maryland) for most of my life, except for some vacations, i'm ready to explore the world!

Germany, Hawaii and Alaska are high on my list!

    Just an update...

I have interview #2 scheduled for tomorrow morning. I have a great feeling about this, but as always, am cautious not to jinx it.

They are REALLY pushing this process through very fast though, which tells me they need and want me bad. In a matter of 1 week, it went from mentioning that i'm looking to move around the company to sitting for interview #2.

Will let ya know how it progresses.
