Here we go again (RT speakers & tubes)
I'm sure many of you guys already know how much I love the sound of my RT15i on tubes. I've also ran 800i's and RT5's on tubes and they all had pretty much the same results. These speakers are incredible. They turn into a completely different animal on tubes.
Last night I decided to hook them up to my new SET amps and I was completely blown away. They completely, and I mean completely dissappeared. The soundstage was HUGE. Never thought I'd hear my RT's do wall to wall imaging and height. Hell, not just wall to wall, it feels like it didn't have any boundaries, especially with all the lights out. Everything that makes SET amps sound magical was reproduced by the RTi. Excellent depth too.
So if you own any SET amps and RT speakers, try connecting them together. You'll be blown away by what these speakers can do.
I also tried the LSi9 but it just couldn't do it. Probably because most SET amps have almost no feedback (some none) and very low damping. Loose uncontrolled bass with really bad extension, mids was veiled and highs really sucked. From my experience with the LSi9, I feel they were made strictly to be SS friendly and not for tubes.
