ohm settings

My Yamaha RXV-800 reciever has different ohm settings on the back panel....which setting should I use. I am running Polk SDA 2's for fronts, r10's for surrounds, cs400i, and psw 450. Would I have more power running fewer ohms? Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know of an a/v link that explains this recurring topic? First of all, your receiver's owners manual should say something about this. My guess, and keep in mind that it's a guess, is that if any of your speakers are less than 8 ohms, you should use set the switch to 4 ohms. If all of your speakers are 8 ohms or more, set it to 8. The purpose of the switch, as far as I know, is to keep you from overloading your receiver and causing clipping damage to your tweeters if you are driving speakers rated below 8 ohms.Testing
