Hey,I just bought the rti10s and i am going to use my harman kardon avr335 to power them. Is this reciever going to work well with my 10s or should I buy and amp? What should I do? Thanks for any input!

I don't see any reason why the 335/340 couldn't power a pair of rti10's in 2channel mode. It would probably push them at +/-40 amperes of current with around 100 watts x2, despite H/K's conservative rating.

On the flipside, a separate amp would probably make for an improvement, but if you like the sound of the 10's and H/K then I wouldn't worry about it.

I have the 10's and the same receiver...it will power them fine..but a seperate amp makes a big difference.

Not 40 amperes... they're said to have been tested and they run about low 20s. Which is ridiculously good for a receiver.

The h/k will power the rest fine...and will give you an extra 20 watts if you want to run the 10's in stereo.
    Setup:

    2 Channel: Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand, T+A P 1230R, Primare SPA21, Oppo BDP-105
PC: Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand, Cambridge Azure 650A v2 , Peachtree iDAC, Denon DVD-3800BDCI

Start looking for an amp...after putting a modest 2 channel amp on my R50s which are kittens compared to the RTi10s, the difference was significant. I briefly hooked the speaks back to the receiver and I couldn't listen anymore. The 10s will suck up everything the HK can give and ask for more.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

I don't know if I'd say power them fine...it will power them. I say that cause I find they do an ok job of powering my 8's. There is an amp in my future.

    In stereo they are fine.

get a seperate amp.....you will really notice a difference...the RTi series is very power hungry...my 12's did not wake up until i put the right juice in them...trust me when i say, a seperate amp will wake them up

I definantly recommend an amp...what I meant by fine was that it wouldn't be too much of a load like the Lsi's would be. Also they still will sound good without an amp...running it on a cheap Onkyo HTIB like I did for a few days now that would sound bad.

Anyways even a $200-$300(used) amp will sound much better than the h/k, and well worth it.
