i have a lip sync problem i can't seem to solve. and it's bugging the **** out of me.
I am using an Outlaw Audio 990 pre amp.. going to Marantz mono block amps...
to RT800i fronts, CS400i center and FX/300i rears.
I have Comcast digital cable box running to the 990 pre amp via component cable for video and digital optical cable for audio.
The Pioneer DVD player is going to the pre via component video too, with a coax digital audio IC.
The pre amp has a lip sync delay feature built into it.. i use that and it still is off. So tonight i bypassed the pre amp. running the cable box video directly to the tube TV. it's an HDTV. Still a lip sync problem. And i have a slight lip sync problem with the DVD player too.
This problem just began about a week ago. I have reset the pre amp to factory settings.. and it got worse. so does anyone have any ideas what i may be doing wrong? Is it possible a digial cable could be causing the audio to be off sync with the video?
how about speaker distance settings? Could that also cause a delay in the lip sync?
I'm frustrated over this. Should I just unplug every damn thing and rewire and hope for the best? As this problem just appeared about a week ago, before that everything was cool as bean dip.

Cathy, i have been on the Outlaw audio forum.. they don't know either what the problem may be.. because it appears that it's NOT the pre amp.. since i bypassed it.. and I still have a sync problem.
short of tearing everything down and resetting every piece of audio gear i have... i don't know where it's coming from. frustrating problem.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I think you have multiple problems. The only common component in the above example is the HDTV. Do you have a different TV you can test the DVD player on?
I am not suprised at all about the Cox box (LOL) being out of synch. Can you "recycle" it. On my Time Warner box, it can be reset. -
 Yikes! I hope you are able to get it straightend out without having to take everything apart! That would majorly stink!:( Good luck Al!danger boy wrote:Cathy, i have been on the Outlaw audio forum.. they don't know either what the problem may be.. because it appears that it's NOT the pre amp.. since i bypassed it.. and I still have a sync problem.

I've had that problem with my digital cable, but on short intervals, does yours do it non stop? actually it was a problem last year but it reallyhasnt hapenned recently, so I assume Cablevision did something to rectify the problem. its definitly the digital cable.Living Room 2 Channel -

Mine used to go away after changing the channells back and forth, and maybe turning the cable box off and on a few times. is digital cable new to your area? (last year or 2?)Living Room 2 Channel -

Play the movie the Excorcist backwards 6 times in a row, that should scare all the demons away. If that does not work, the Rosie O'donnel show on regular should do it.
It sounds like a cablevision problem. I used to have a digital Adelphia box and it sucked ****. Lip sync and freezing all the time. I bypassed the box altogether and solved the problem. They kept telling me how much better the digital signal was, the analog creamed it. Good luck. Call Scott at Outlaw if the problem is still there and it is not cable related.

Well after a few weeks of living with the lip sync problem. it's been solved.. as far as I can tell.
For a few months I was not able to get my Outlaw Audio 990 pre amp to complete it's auto calibration settings. It would always error out and i'd get frustrated at the thing.
Well, today after trying about three different times.. with different crossover settings and speaker size combinations.. it finally worked. All speakers are not calibrated.. I gotta say. it sounds dang fine too.
Bonus, it also fixed the damn lip sync problem i was having. How's that for killing two birds with one stone?
I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean today.. and it sounds most excellent now. Any sword fight scenes sound really spot on and the surround sound is very engaging now.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
