They do run a little warm during normal listening, but when pushed run a bit hot... They never change sound either way and love to push them showing off.

Rotel should do it, a warm sounding amp. Also look into a used Adcom 535, it is underrated at 60 watts but is very smooth.

If you folks can offer solid suggestions based on the original information, rock on.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Nature of the beast. IMO, if you want mellow, try a different speaker.Political Correctness'.........defined

First of all, let them break in, if you haven't already. I've had RT(i) tweeters begin to change after 40-50 hours, and break in completely nearing 150 hours of use, at normal listening levels.
Second, the Onkyo isn't the smoothest amp out there, changing to a better amplifier will not only improve the brightness on the top end, but help with midrange and bass control also.
Third, make sure the jumpers are off the back, by using either a bi-wire cable, or a short run of speaker wire. After your amp upgrade, upgrade speaker cables to match. Which ones should you buy? GOOD ones. You've got decent interconns, bravo - now finish the rig out.
The 12 is a fine speaker, and very capable and balanced for critically listening to music.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
I would give you two more suggestions if Russ' suggestions don't do it for you:
First: Sell the Oink and use the money from it and what you would spend on the second amp for a single upgraded amp. Biamping to get more power is, well, you can do a search on it and find out.
Second: If your stuck on Bi-amping: Look for a >20W tube amp. Trust me that 20W to a tweeter/mids will give out way after your amp to your woofers has given up the magic smoke. It will sound especially sweet adding: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=266-272
before the tube amp to clear out some of the bass signals. You could add a low pass at 150Hz to your bass amp as well to keep some harmonics down. There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction.
