alas, after spending quite a bit of money on a monster center reference cable to improve the sound on my csi5, it still sounds the same, still having problems hearing the dialogue unless my system is turned up way to high...
I just don't know what to do anymore. would an amp solve my problem?

well for starters.. do you have a Radio Shack sound level meter? that more than anything will make the biggest difference. if you have all your speakers calibrated to the proper level.

also, there is no rule that says you can't go into the menu of your receiver and raise the audio level to a level that sounds good to you.

often times people just have a setting in the receiver menu set incorrectly.. check all them. but yeah an amp would help for sure.. but proper calibrated levels will help even more.

What receiver and what are the rest of your speakers?

I have a sony str-da2000es receiver, and currently am still running my old sony dreamsystem speakers for fronts and surrounds, the polk csi5 is the only one i've managed to switch out as of yet. I've raised the level of my center up to +10db wich helps, but when watching movies i still have a hard time hearing dialogue, unless the system is turned up alot, wich sucks because then all the other sound in the movie is way to loud.
