One tweeter of my Monitor 5 is broken down. Could you please tell me what is the model no? Could it be replaced by the SL2000 or SL2500? Do I need to replace one or both tweeter? Is it worth to replace it for it is 26 years old?

You should put out some feelers and try to replace that "Peerless" tweeter with another "Peerless". IMO, the best sounding tweeter that Polk has ever utilized(that said, having little experience with the "Vifa" ring tweeter in the LSis). Maybe someone around here has one they could let go, MAYBE.
You'd have to break out the router or rotary tool to replace it with the Polk silk replacement, because the mounting plate on your's is smaller than the new one.

I have checked with the polkaudio. The "Peerless" tweeter is out of stock. Only the SL2000 and SL2500 is available.

As mentioned by ND13....you cannot use either of those tweeters unless you modify, i.e. router, the existing cabinets. The frame on the newer style tweeters is larger than the Peerless and SL1000.
Check Ebay for a Peerless tweeter.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
You can certainly ghetto the speaker up like that, but one mistake on that drill and you're back to square one. Do it right or don't do it at all but it's your speaker.
The older speakers magnet structure cutout is often not compatible as well, usually being much smaller than the SL2000/RD0194. It's a catch-22, just look for a Peerless.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Hi all,
Thank you for your advice. I have asked the agent of polkaudio in my country. She said that my the tweeter should be replaced by the SL1000 tweeter.
She said "It is not a Peerless tweeter as all drivers were made by Polkaudio themselves. You may replace only one if I like but some people who can listen and find it sounds different between the new and old tweeters, they'll then have to replace both tweeters so as to get the balance sound". -
I agree with Anonymouse and you should tell your "agent" that she could use some more Polk education under her belt.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I bought this Monitor 5 in 1st hand 26 years ago. What do you meant the "Peerless" tweeter is not made by polkaudio? Is it an OEM part?

I get a SL1000 for the replacement of the "Peerless" tweeter from the polkaudio agent. I am happy with the new tweeter.

Now if you can get someone to swap ya another SL-1000 for the "Peerless" in the other one so your voicing will match. That shouldn't be too hard....damnit I wish I had an SL-1000 laying around here somewhere."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

It seems that the high frequency of the Peerless is a little bit higher than the SL1000. Is there any run in time for the tweeter?
-
I believe that you need to have the same tweeter in each speakerJC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

I am going to change the other one (Peerless) to SL1000.:) Are there any one interested for the rusty Peerless
-
You'd probably be better off trying to find another Peerless tweet to replace the SL-1000...they're better sounding tweeters.
I'd probably be interested in taking that Peerless tweet off your hands. The nirvana inducer-

Wow...it's both a Peerless tweeter, AND an SL-1000 tweeter? That's a one of a kind item there. The only one in existence.
That's a Peerless tweeter...not SL-1000.;) If you wanted to stick with Peerless though, I'd jump on that one. You'd be better off picking this up than another SL-1000.The nirvana inducer-

I like the SL1000 more than the Peerless after a long time of listening:) The SL1000 is more open air and loudly. Do I need to swap the two tweeters in order to confirm the above Or there is other reasons such as the crossover is defective on the speaker with Peerless.

From the photo, the one on EB look like the Peerless. It appears to have the hole/dimple.Stan
