Classical Box Sets(4) - Various - Decca/ RCA Victor/ Angel/ Mercury - $12/ each, including shipping
I have 4 more very nice box sets of Classical music, including a classic Rock Opera....
STRAUSS - Don Quixote - RCA LS2384 - 1LP - VG+/NM - This is a pretty neat set. It's essentially the story of Don Quixote set to music. The Chicago Symphony conducted by Fritz Reiner w/ Antonio Janigro(Violoncello) & Milton Preves(Viola).
It has an mint, 16 page essay by Walter Starkie. You can read the story, while listening to the music and read the explanation of the musical selection which is storyline based. Neat. The record is NM, the box is VG+ with some rubs and discoloration, but is very presentable.
LES GROUPE DES SIX - Self Titled - Angel 3515 B - 2LP - VG+/NM - This 2LP collection is some of the heaviest pressings for 33 I've ever held in my life. I'm guessing 220g easy, but they may be heavier....I don't know. It's a collection of music from probably the most famous modern day French artists. They are Georges Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc & Germaine Tailleferre. It is performed by the Orchestre de la Societe des Concerts du Conservatoire, under the driection of Georges Tzipine @ the Theatre des Champes Elysees, Paris, 1953.
Here's some history on Les Groupe des Six
It has a spoken word introduction by Jean Cocteau and a very nice 7 page liner notes with comments on all the artists by Georges Auric. It's pretty cool and I've never seen one for sale before. The records are NM with some writing on one side, of the library it was stolen from years ago. The cover is in very good shape, with the same library name written at the top of the cover, still very presentable. No I didn't steal it.
SMETANA - My Fatherland "Ma Vaste" Symphonic Cycle - Mercury OL-2-100 - VG/NM - This is the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Raphael Kubelik of classical(deaf) Czech composer, Smetana. This is a ultra high fidelity recording from Mercury using a single Telefunken microphone, hung 25 feet above the conductor. An amazing recording to say the least.
It has a mint, single page for liner notes that explains some history about Smetana, his music and conductor Raphael Kubelik. The records are NM, but the box has seen better days. The cover art is fantastic, but the seams on two sides of the box have split. The insides are intact and still NM. It has some additional covers inside for some reason, and perhaps its technically incomplete, but it looks great to me. It also has some EXTREMELY in depth hand written notes, 5 individual writings, from someone who is absolutely insane about every nuance of a recording...as you'll read. VERY cool recording and performance.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR - Self-Titled Rock Opera - Decca DXSA 7206 - 2LP - NM - The classic rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, October 1970. The whole performance...and you can read along!
It has a 26 page liner note booklet with cast, dialogue and all kinds of other information from the performance. It has way too many musicians and nuggets to list here, but it's an interesting assembly. The overall condition is really NM...a great example for display or a collection.
If you wanted some nice starter sets, here's your chance. They have all been run on a VPI 16.5 record cleaner and prepped for secure shipping. They will be shipped via USPS Media Mail or 1st Class, depending on how close the price is at the time.
Thanks for looking.

I'm going to take off my audio-**** hat, and let someone else bag these.
Great stuff Mark, I'm suprised it's lasted this long. Out Of Print brohams, bag it while you can.

You gonna be a girl or a guy rhino? Just curious. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get that horn removed surgically. You could end up in a bag of Asian viagra if you keep it. Just a thought if you're serious about the man/rhino change.
