Great new spin on the "I'm a Mac" commercials. Just a spoof, but still funny (and hot!)!

I was just watching that the other day, pretty funny. I wonder what type of person would represent the 360.

Bill Gates with a football jersey and an M-16.
Then make him re-boot over and over like in the PC vs Mac commercials.

Looks like the Wii is coming out November 19, for $250. Just in time for Christmas! :
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I was just reading an article on that earlier. Great news! I still think it should have been priced at $200 though.

Seeing as the Wii comes with one game, I wouldn't be surprised to see a "core" system 6-12 months down the line with no game and at $199.

I personally can't wait, I think this will be the best of the 3 new systems

I think the Wii will truly be awesome. However I really do get a ton of enjoyment out of my 360 and great titles are coming out all the time but I think this will be the Wii60 gen for sure.

a little disappointed with the retail price being $249, but people will still buy it. But as soon as xbox drops to 300, nintendo is going to have a little more trouble selling their system. Anywho, Do you guys think the 5-10 dollars they are asking for old games a fair price? I think NES games should be no more than $2.

I'm a little surprised with the pricing... especially with the $60 controllers for the wii. I think of the Wii as a party system, so I'm going to need 4 controllers with it ($180 for 3 more...ouch), whereas with the 360 or PS3 I really only want 2 controllers. So, for me it really takes the wii out of the "so cheap I'll buy it as a second though" arena. Moreover, it goes against their original message of attracting casual gamers.
The pricing is because they want to actually make a lot of money on the hardware; if the plan proves succesfull it could have a major impact on future console design.

$39.99 for the controllers, not 60.

Considering they're wireless motion-sensitive controllers, I don't really know what you expect. Things aren't free just because you want them to be or think it's a good idea. Nintendo will price it where they can make the most amount of profit while keeping the maximum amount of people interested. They're not just going to lose money on them to be nice to you.

$39.99 for the remote, $19.99 for the nunchaku. I admit, I am not sure how many 4 player games will require the nunchaku. It is just interesting as their profit margins are quite a bit higher than usual for a game company.
Another thing to note is that the system and all perphierals are relatively cheaper in Japan than in America, which is I think is a first.
In any case, my main issue with the pricing is that Nintendo has been going on and on about brekaing into the casual market, and if they decided to initially take a loss on consoles like every other console in history, they could sell it for $150 and might break through to casual gamers. On the other hand, they will make hundreds of millions of dollars on the systems sellingthem at $250 each, so good for them -- it just doesnt entirely mesh with their previous message, as I interpeted it.

I beleive SNES games used to sell for $70 new. The $5-10 was a little higher than I wanted, but 5-10 isn't a bad deal either, plus no microtransactions, so it's 5-10, period.

On the controllers, if $40 is too much get third party controllers, they should be cheaper, it was big news a couple months ago with Mad Catz, etc.

    I can't wait to pre-order this system...

My understanding is the Wii is usually only available for pre-order for 15 mins or less before the stores pull the offer due to to many pre-orders. Some companies like EB games won't allow pre-orders until they know exactly how many each of thier stores will receive, to avoid the mistakes they made with the Xbox360 where those who pre-ordered didn't get one.

Damn, that sucks. If there is a shortage I guess I'll have to wait till next year. There is NO way im waiting outside a store for the whole night like some people did with the 360.

I don't know though, I don't think I can wait any longer to play MP3 and the new Zelda.:p

Well Nintendo has said 1 million units on Nov 19th and 2 Million by the end of the year in North America. Also note that the release date is a Sunday. From my memory Nintendo always releases offically on a Sunday but units are usually available on the Friday before the release date. So I'd check out the stores on Friday when they open if you can. But with one million units, it "may" not be too hard to find one anyway if you try and get one on day one.

just curious, does anyone know roughly how many 360 units microsoft shipped when it was released?

Its just funny that one of the biggest company in the world could not even ship enough units at its launch.

It was around 326,000 (in the US) and supposedly it was due to only having one of their three plants being operational.
