Hello, I am new to the forum. I have 2 floorstanding polk audio SDA 2 speakers. I really dont know much about the speakers since I inherited them. I do not have the interconnect cable that hooks them together. Does anyone know where I can find one? what kind do I need? and are there differences in each cable? Any info would be greatly appreaciated. thanks
Also what would I need in-order to make a good sounding system? I hear that the SDA is a great line of speakers and I want the most out of them.
Like I said "I know nothing about the speakers". Im a noobie

On the back you will see a socket, it will have either two slots or a hole and slot. Which one do you have?Political Correctness'.........defined

Mine has a small silver hole and a small rectangular slot under it. -
Ok, that's known as the pin/blade version and it's no longer available. However, you can make one by using an rca type pin that fits the hole. You don't need anything for the slot as it doesn't carry a signal. One word of caution, you can not use non-common ground amp, dual mono amp or mono block amps with your speakers unless you use the AI-1 interconnect (no longer available) or can tie the negative outputs together.
If you don't have the owners manual, a call to Polk will net you one. Also, doing a search here for SDA will result in reading material for the next couple of weeks.Political Correctness'.........defined

The link you provided shows the SDA 2A, which used the blade/blade version, so I think you have something else, perhaps the SDA 2B. Can you post a pic of yours with a pic of the back?
Edit: I'll check back here tomorrow, have to go now.Political Correctness'.........defined

So there arent any stores that sell that cable? That sucks. What are the speakers mainly used for? like home audio for a tv or like a guitar speaker and amp? What type of receiver would I have to have for it?
Sorry about that link, I thought it was the same as mine. I have the pin/blade. The SDA 2B. I didnt notice the link was the blade/blade/ -
like home audio for a tv
Home audio and a TV have nothing in common. Your speakers were designed for listening to music.Political Correctness'.........defined

OMG! proceed with caution.
hook up the speakers to your home stereo.. and see how they sound. they will sound even better with that interconnect cable. give em a try. do not hook them up to your TV or guitar amp. :eek:PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Ok. I had them hooked up to a DVD player receiver, and it played cd's and the radio. Is that what your talking about? How do I get an Interconnect cable? What kind of amps are people talking about? F1NUT said "non-common ground amp, dual mono amp or mono block amps with your speakers"?????

Welcome to the Club Polk Forums rockfishpower! Most receivers are common ground. Mono block amplifiers certain Adcom and a few others are non-common ground. What type of receiver do you have? You can always contact the manufacturer to check. If you own a volt-ohm-meter (VOM) measure the ohms between the left and right negative speaker terminals on your receiver. They should read "0" or very close if it is a non common ground.
If you do have a pin/blade interconnect connection, do as F1 suggested. I have used a 16 gauge or higher multi strand, single wire with a push in crimp on style pin connector. These can be purchased at Radio Shack for about a buck. As F1 stated the blade carries no signal so you are just trying to connect the two speakers together via the pin hole connection.
If you have the blade/blade connection, Polk can sell you an interconnect cable for about $30. Call Polk Customer Service and ask for Ken Swauger.
Can you post a picture of your interconnect connection?
Good luck and congratulations on your SDA-2's. There are a fine speaker. Keep posting and asking questions. Many members here are glad to help!:)Carl -
