Fry's motherboards

Why is it most motherboards from these guys don't work.
ECS is complete crap. But many other boards from here have given
me trouble. I never buy the reduced open box ones.
Yet I end up returning another one. Microcenter here is Dallas
is so much better it hurts. I really just need to stay out of the store.
The place just creeps me out. Seems all the employees have that
1000 yard stare going. Kind of like a hitech Walmart.

Sometimes buying from Fry's is not worth the money you saved, when you count in the time. I only get ECS if it comes as a combo package for less than the price of the processor coming with it.

Yeah, the employees are dumb as rocks, but I've never had any problems with the ECS boards I've used. Years later and they are still running strong.

I remember reading about problems with ECS motherboards and cheapo generic memory. I've always used Corsair Value Select memory with no problems.

ECS motherboards. Bought 6 as a package, one as a stand-alone.
4 didn't power up, two had real issues, one lasted a year.
I got two others of another brand. They didn't work.
    Microcenter, 4 boards, all good.
Some of Fry's other stuff is ok.

You know Fry's doesn't make motherboards right? ECS and all the other brands they sell are the exact same ones sold at other places.

I guess I've just been lucky with the 6 or so I've bought over the past several years.

I know they don't make them. But they do buy up every one elses refurbs
and seconds. You get no indication that they aren't new.
ECS is kinda ok from other places, from Fry's a disaster. Many other
brands are also not the prime stuff. Hard drives seem to be ok. Never had a problem there.

I used to hear that all the time, but have since heard that's actually NOT true, only the ones marked as such are refurbs. I have about a 75% success rate with all the motherboards I buy from Fry's...and I buy ALOT. I have about the same success rate when buying from NewEgg or anywhere else.

There's alot on a motherboard that can go wrong...

I won't shope at Microcenter any more. Every time I go in there I leave empty handed because they never have what i'm looking for...
