New Home, Old Tunes, Help Needed!

Now, here's me story. Back in the late 70's I bought a stereo system which consisted of an NAD 3140 Integrated Amp, NAD 6040 Tape Deck, and Polk Audio Studio Monitor 10A's. I loved the system and the type of sound it produced. It served me well for quite a few years. I later added a Technics Turntable to the system.
Fast forward 10 or so years....We just bought a new house and I want to recapture the sound of my original system.....that full though slightly subdued sound that NAD and Polk have become known for. Unfortunately the only thing that survives are the Polk Monitor 10A's and the turntable.
Here's where I need your help.....I want my "new" system to have a CD player, Tuner or Receiver, Turntable and an Amplifier capable of making it all work and sound great.
I will undoubtably buy used equipment (from e-bay) to keep costs reasonable.
So, my questions are:
1. Should I go with an Amplifier and Tuner or a Reciever?
2. What Amplifier/Reciever should I be looking for? (the 3140's are getting rare and I'm sure NAD has something better out there)
3. What CD player should I be looking for?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Scott

I love seperates...I would go with a seperate amp, pre-amp, and tuner. Are you still looking for vintage stuff or do you want to modernize? Denon makes some nice cd players. If you go to a cheaper cd player, then get an external DAC, I did and it made a HUGE difference in sound quality.Amplifiers: 1-SAE Mark IV, 4-SAE 2400, 1-SAE 2500, 2-SAE 2600, 1-Buttkicker BKA 1000N w/2-tactile transducers. Sources: Sony BDP CX7000es, Sony CX300/CX400/CX450/CX455, SAE 8000 tuner, Akai 4000D R2R, Technics 1100A TT, Epson 8500UB with Carada 100". Speakers:Polk SDA SRS, 3.1TL, FXi5, FXi3, 2-SVS 20-29, Yamaha, SVS center sub. Power:2-Monster HTS3500, Furman M-8D & RR16 Plus. 2-SAE 4000 X-overs, SAE 5000a noise reduction, MSB Link DAC III, MSB Powerbase, Behringer 2496, Monarchy DIP 24/96.

I am leaning towards modernizing for convenience, as it seems the vintage stuff is becoming rare to find.
