With the new amp on the way (thanks DarqueKnight), I am wanting to buy some interconnects. I have been looking at Audioquest Sidewinders, for 65 bucks. Anyone have opinions on these, other cables to look out for? Thanks.

Check out the Analog Two ic's....

You can't go wrong, plus I believe there's a 30-day return policy (though I'm confident you won't be using it):D

5% Club Polk discount to boot....

The Sidewinders/Copperheads are a good cable---BUT HANDLE WITH CARE. It's very easy to break the connection being solid copper conductors, if you tug on them or are to rough with them.

You might try Kimber PBJ also. To save some money on cables, hit Ebay/Audiogon buy USED.

I think I have this issue, I am getting a very loud hum when I listen to my CDP. If the player moves just a tad (by dusting it) I get a loud hum. Must take them out and see what I can do.

This is why I went to Kimber PBJ, and later to Hero.

Don't get me wrong AQ Sidewinder is a great sounding cable. A touch lean on bass, excellent treble, but they require careful handling. If you don't putz around with your equipment much, you'd be fine.

FWIW, Copperhead isn't worth the extra dime. I could detect no difference between Sidewinder/Copperhead, I had both for quite some time. The only difference (aside from appearance) is the Copperhead uses "perfect surface copper." All gauges/topolgy/connectors/insulators are the same.

I use G-snake on my bedroom system and sidewinder on my main. Not sure if it's just a soldering issue or if the cable itself somewhere is Effe'd up. I am thinking it's just the connection at the RCA plug. Maybe a weekend project.

Usually the break happens in the copper just AT the solder joint of the connector, and sometimes it's hard to see the break.

Sweet! Will you be using 'em for SACD or hooking up a five-channel amp?

5 channel amp, which is hooked up now with M* Reference IC's. Long story short, this will clean things up and I'll migrate the M*s to source->receiver duty.

You'll be pleasantly surprised. Give 'em some time to burn in and they'll start working their magic. The Analog One's are stellar as well, but for different reasons. The 2's however, really open up the soundstage, and make the midrange smooth as silk. If you're looking for a more agressive top-end, the One's might be your ticket, though.

Between Cobalt/Signal, I'd go Signal. Why? there are comparable but Frank supports the Polk Forum, and their workmanship is top-notch.

On a related note, can someone drop some basic knowledge on solid silver vs. copper? I have heard silver is "lean" vs. copper but that it has more transparency and airy sound.

now you're talking.. lol i use them both. IC's and speaker cables.. very well made and sound great on both counts. :D

Everyone here has their own faves of course.. but within a resonable price range.. you can't go wrong with the Cobalts, Signals or the many others in that price.

I also use some of these.. http://cgi.ebay.com/1-0-Meter-Silver-Analog-Audio-Cable-High-End_W0QQitemZ200015354989QQihZ010QQcategoryZ33205QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Silver generally delivers a tad more bass extension, as well. Some have also reported success running silver cables to their tweeters while running copper to their drivers in a bi-amp configuration.

I found My DH labs used for about $125 a pair for 1 meter but 2 would be pushing it. In that case I would go with the Cobalts for budget.
