Do you guys think it would be ok for me to bi amp my mains off of my reciever? Using the front r and l along with the surround r and l. I would be keeping it in 5 channel stereo, so the same signal should be going to all the speakers right? Thanks for the input.

    I think not also.
5.1 is actually 6 different signals.
I don't think I would want my left front to also play my left rear signal.

It will not be for 5.1, its just stereo, but in 5 channel stereo, so I thought all the speakers would get the same signal being sent to the front?

Buy a second amp to do the extra work.
I would not risk my equipment trying it the way you described.

It would probably work as long as it never goes out of 5 channel stereo and the same signal would have to be split to all 4 channels. Of you can use Fr and Sr for one speaker and Fl and Sl for the other.

While it may work, you will be eliminationg any advantage bi amping will bring anyway and it would be a waste on many levels.

In my beginner years, I boughjt a 5 channel H/K amp and used my Onkyo as a preamp. I then thought hey, I now have 10 amplified channels so why not just bi-amp the all. I could never get it to sound right. It was always better with just one or the other.

You are so much better off running them the "eight" way or getting an outboard amp.

That won't work... If you just use 2 main speakers to output say a 5.1 channel signal, you will have to configure your Receiver or your source (DVD player?) to do the conversion. Everything should be in the manual...

5.1 channel is not "stereo"... thats either dolby digital/DTS surround, or something else....

Absolutely NO!!! THe only way this would work is if you were running 5 channel mono and that would sound like crap.

Besides, bi-amping is of questionable benifit anyway. Biwiring gets you most of the perceived benifit. Try that, it's cheaper and won't sound like **** or blow up your gear.
