Yesterday I went to the Ultimate Electronics Store in Fairview Heights, IL. And was looking for an AV Rack for the Up and coming Outlaw 990/7700 combo pack. With no luck "or should I say not in stock" in getting the rack that I wanted I stated looking around the store. I had been also looking at putting an in dash CD player in the Tahoe that would link with my iPod. “I got tired of the RF transmitter" So guess what they had what I wanted "Or should I say one that my wife could Operate" and I said put it in.
So while I was waiting for my Truck to get done I stopped one of the Sales man and Asked him for a DVD so I and my wife could Jump in one of there demo rooms and wait for my truck to be finished and the Sale man said sure. So after he put the DVD in for us we started talking about how there are not that many companies making 7 channel amps and I was looking into buying the Outlaw stuff and this is when my day got Interesting. He said “Ya I know. But we do have one of the Carver Sunfire Cinema Sevens left at a Discount."
So right then I thought he would say $3500. So I and the sales man step out of the demo room "Leaving my wife behind" to talk Business. Thats about the time He tells me the amp is priced a $1996.98. So me being the Bargainer, I told him that I would buy the amp if I could get it out the Door "Tax, Title and License" for that price. He said that he would have to talk to the Store manager. Now 5 min. passed and the guy comes back and tells me that it’s a deal. "About that time I'm thinking Oh Great how the H*LL am I going to tell my wife I just dropped $2000 on an amp." So I say is put it in the back of my truck and I'll pay for it. "Deal done"
Now my wife is still in the demo room "happy as a clam" tells me the guy working on the Tahoe said the truck was finished. And she wants to know what was the box that the guy just put in the back of the truck. Doh.... So I have to tell her something "But what will it be?" I tell her that it’s some Small piece of Av Equipment for home. That’s when she asks how much. At this point I tell her Cheep.
So now I'm home "after driving 90" and getting this thing in the living room for a Test flight. I got everything hooked up and guess what "Nothing happened" I can’t get this amp to power up. For now I'm using my Sony STR-DA4ES receiver as my pre amp until I get some more cash for one with balanced out puts.
So I made sure that 12 trigger on the pre-amp is showing on in the menu with no luck. I also tried to flip the switch on the back of the amp to the Manual on and still no power. So what gives? I start thinking "I would hate to have to send this thing in on the first day I got It." also I can’t exchange it for this was there last one and there no longer a Carver dealer. But they told me that if I had any problem they would send it in for service. So I'm telling myself it was Steal and just send it in and wait... So I go to bed Mad.
So today I get up and start looking for answers. Guess what? Boy I feel stupid. I started pulling out the fuses and checking the continuity on them and guess witch ones was blown. You guessed it the AC line power fuse and both current source fuses were blown. Went to the local radio shack and they had the exact Ac line fuse but they only had the 6 amp instead of the 6 1/4 amp fuse for the current source. But I though the 1/4 amp less would not hurt and might give me a little bit more added security.
So right now I'm letting the LSi9's stretch there legs a little bit. I'm kind of afraid to let it rip too much for I don't know how there going to like the power that’s there to be put to them. I know that the amp will do 800x7 @ 4 ohm at peak power but as we all know that these speakers or only rated at 250 watts. LoL. Opp's I guess I went a little bit over board on the amp but the Money was right and it was still cheaper then the outlaw 7700.
So any one here Have the LSi speakers in there HT with 800 W.P.C on tap? And if so how far can they go?
Thanks Shannon Wilson

I wish they still had the Theater Grand IV Pre/amp that matched the amp. But now I'm going to save my money for the TGP-5. Theres a shop in St.Louis that sells the Carver Stuff at 30% off retail. I called the guy today and he price the Pre/amp to me a $2400 and some change. I have that in my Rat hole that may wife don't know about but I'm afraid that If she knew that I spent $4500 in AV Equipment this week I think I would have the Devorce Lawyers knocking on the door.. Just before the ones here in Dallas went under, they sold off all their broken stuff. Some of it was VERY dated. The actually told customers to just send it in for warrenty claims. Other stuff was quite a mess, yet sold as DEMO. They knew the thing didn't work, and didn't want to know why.
Sounds like you made out very well. Simple trouble, simple fix. Good luck, and may you enjoy it for years!"The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. Last night I put in V for Vendetta and set the system on cruse control. When the 1812 Overture started playing I Liked to fell over. Wow what a difference. Then the Explosion. My wife fell off the Love seat "LoL" and then commenced to start B*tching about it being to loud. "All I could keep thinking bout was the old Maxell commercial with the guy in the chair and his face being blown back buy the sound.." I seen peak SPL around 105-108 but on average it was around 96-100. And crystal clear the whole time... But that is in an 11' wide by 17' long room. "I know Kind of small" Shannon50" Samsung Plasma

Nice deal Shannon! My 16 yr old RTA-8T's are loving 400 wpc & they are easy to drive. So no doubt your LSI's are happy campers!
Good call on the fuses. My brother just rehooked his LSI 7's back up to my 16 yr old Rotel 50 wpc amp, sound wasn't coming from one of the speakers. So he called me!  I gave him a couple of ideas but had no clue about fuses. Fortunately he did! he took the top off & discovered 1 of the 4 fuses were blown!
He also went to Radio Shack & got new fuses. The kid that waited on him handed him the wrong set of fuses, that if any thing happens the fuse is so slow, you would still end up burning up your equipment!
If Mark didn't know better he would have taken them! He switched out the fuses & the amp fired right up!
He was totally impressed with the build quality of the Rotel & that they put 4 fuses in there to protect that little amp!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Nice buy, good idea to check the fuses! That's certainly happened to me before; hooking up new gear for the first time only to discover fuses are blown. I've had much better luck getting the exact fuses I need at Home Depot vs. Rat Shack.
Funny, very first time I hooked up my Sunfire Signature II, it tripped the circuit breakers in my apartment I was not a happy guy at that point. Somehow I realized I'd hooked up a different power cord than the provided stock one (stock cord didn't have a ground pin), and everything's been dandy since then. Crazy.
I wouldn't worry too much about the LSi9's. Unfortunately I sold mine before I got the Sunfire (1200 Watts @ 4 ohms ). Feed 'em some juice and see what they can doTannoy Dimension TD10, SOTA Star Sapphire, Heathkit W4A's, McIntosh MC2100, Eddie-Current Zana Deux, Singlepower SDS, Sennheiser HD650, Audio-Technica L3000, Sony Qualia 010 -
