Sub Placement

I just bought a PSW 505 and have been experimenting with different positions in my HT room.

If I place the sub in a corner (as seems to be recommended as an optimum place), should the front firing sub face the corner?
Same question if I were to put it up against a wall (about 10" out)?

face the sub outward. corner is normaly going to give u the loudest result, but it also can be very "boomy". but keep experimenting. i guess what im trying to say is do what sounds right to you

Tecmo is right, the corner placement will give the loudest and boomiest sound. That's is where I have mine and it took me quite a bit of tweaking and testing until I got it "right".
BTW the front should be facing the room.

this sub is a rearfiring sub. the slot port should be facing the wall. the closer to the wall the boomier the sub will sound ....depending on your taste i would play around with it and once you found the sweet spot.....ENJOY

One thing I've heard and always tried to stick to; don't put your sub the same distance from two walls. Something about "standing waves" it usually works for me. In my examle, it's about 3" from the front wall and 8" from the side wall.
I just had to move it literally 1-2" to acomodate my new mains and I swear the bass sounds way too boomy now.
