I just installed this unit yesterday. Eclipse fixed some of the issues that bothered me on my CD8455 (not being able to easily adjust the subwoofer volume in Pro-Mode, and changing tracks with the rotary wheel).

I am currenlty using in it in the 4sp+sub mode, which uses front and rear speakers, plus a subwoofer. In this mode it has a 7-band parametric EQ, time alignment, and fully adjustable crossover (can pick different frequencies and slopes for the front, rear, and sub). In the 3-way mode it will give you the same features, but the parametric EQ has more control. It will have 5 bands for the highs, 5 bands for the mids, and one band for the lows. This is one very nice head unit. I am going to pick up a Sony memory stick to play around on Eclipse's website. Too bad they do not include them with the HU anymore.

Finally got my system dialed in and now it's coming out...... I will transferring most of my stuff to my other car, a 2002 Maxima. I will still have a system in my 96, the Polk DB3065's are going to go up front, and the Arc sub will probably stay in it. I will probably be getting a Kicker 5 channel amp to run the whole sytem in it. I am toying with the idea of just running a single 8" sub in my 2002's factory location. It came with a Bose system and there is an 8" sub in the rear deck. I kind of like the idea of having a good amount of trunk space. A couple of the guys at Maxima.org did this and that is where I got the idea from. One stayed with a Freeair sub, and the other guy had a box built under the rear deck. Here are some of their shots.

Exactly what I was thinking, Mac. Perhaps it was one of those that didn't show up? But then how did 1996blackmax respond to it?

At any rate, awesome looking HU, and that deck is unbelievable!

I highly recommend this HU to anyone who wants alot of tuning capabilities in one package, and a HU that offers great SQ. The large volume knob takes a little getting used, actually the controls insided it do. There is one button that you can use as a shortcut button, I really like this feature. You basically program it to the function you want a shortcut to. I use it to go directly to my EQ settings which also have TA values in memory. This allows me to quickly switch between a setting I use when I am alone, or when I have my family is in the car.

I will put in most of my components in my 02 Maxima this weekend. The Bose radio in the car is not that bad when compared to a regular stock system, but it really can't compare to the setup in my other car. Can't wait for the weekend to be here :D.

Man, I love Eclipse's new line of HU. I think they all look great, and I know they have that awesome Eclipse feature set and SQ.

    *drool*

I'm actually starting to go back to the audio store to try and work out finishing my car system again...we'll see what comes of it this time...

Agreed the CD7k looks better than their lower lines and has plethora of features.. but the only gripe is the lag time it has on menus and reading CD's. It reminds me of the AVIC N1 on reading cd's.

Got some of the Second Skin in today. I did the trunk and trunk lid. Took 40 square feet to do it. The only thing left in the trunk to put sound deadening on is the spare tire well, only the bottom half. Not as much progress as I would have liked, but at least something was done. I also took out the CD7000, the Rainbows, and the Arc amps out of my 96 Maxima.

I ordered some some more Damplifier today. I was originally going to do the doors first. I decided to put some rear speakers in, so I have to get some now. I only want to take things apart once, so I will deaden the doors when I put all of the speakers in. I will throw some rattle pad on the doors as well. Should have it all together within the next couple of weeks.......

Jeez man....I can't even keep track on how many decks you've gone through now ... and now a newer car ;)

I think you would be better off building a smaller box and keeping it on the side. Looking at that enclosure on the deck, it seems that it dips a bit low. Although you have more floor space, losing that much verticle space in the middle can affect you too.
    LSIm system on order =D

I am kind of picky  .

You are right.... I have been thinking about this for the last couple of days. I had a VCR close to the same area (a little further back towards the back of the car), and it was a pain when it came time to put things into the trunk. Picking up relatives from the airport comes to mind :D. The police want everyone to keep moving.

I have decided to use my ARC 12 in there for right now. A little later I will go back to a Soundsplinter sub, not sure yet on which one. I may go with the RL-i10 I had before.... Maybe even a 12" RL-P :D. I plan on putting one amp screwed to the back of the back seat, and the other one underneath one of the front seats. If I can get the 4150-XXK under one of the front seats, then both of those puppies will go up front. This will give me a little more room to play with in case I want the RL-P, and a more stealthy install (the only thing showing would be the subwoofer.
