Denon POA-2800

Picked up this Denon power amp today for $95. The RCA connectors in back were busted. Stupid things were part of some weird plasic assembly.
I just soldered some nice RCA jacks directly to the wires.
The unit is about 40lbs. 200 watts@8 ohms, 350 at 4. Top and front are in good shape, sides have a few scratches. Seems to work well, but sound a
tad too bright for my tastes(my regular amp is a NAD 2400).
The speaker connectors are NOT banana friendly. That might account for
part of the sound. I'm using 14 ga. wire right now. A couple of days should tell me if its a keeper.
I'll have to edit the inside and rear shots to fit here.
Added an inside shot.

Note to self: always compare apples to apples.
I put the same Home depot wire on Nad as I have on the Denon,
and A/B between the HD wire and Audioquest using the speaker a/b buttons and swapping the speaker ends. Of course, the AQ stuff has more low end and smoother highs. Until I get pin adapters for the AQ so I can use them on the Denon, any comparison between the two amps will be unfair.
Using the HD wire on both amps, I feel the Nad is still warmer, but the
Denon is holding it's own. Damn, that's a big transformer in the center of this thing!
Other than the cheesey speaker connectors, I think the Denon is built very well. Maybe it's time to sell them both and find an amp that comes in one of those wooden boxes.

Upgrade it with some decent connections and binders, keep it as a spare. Nice amp.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

yeah, thats too beefy an amp for to good a price to dump off. that's a keeper.
hell, you got a 200 wpc amp for what some pay for an interconnect.

might have a speaker down the road you might try that would appreciate a brighter amp too. who knows. I got a Hafler I'll never get rid of, its good to have a sh*tload of ss power on tap when needed.
